Well, it's one for the money ...
[a RARE Editor's Note!]
You may or may not know that I used to work for Southern Living and other national magazines. In February 2003, when I saw the need for an upbeat information source for Lubbock families, I purposefully chose the more contemporary format of a web site and email. So if the emails are FREE for us to receive, then how does the Fun Club make money? Good question ... and one I have been asked a million times. The answer is simply ... sponsors and advertising (even though it has limited at times.)
So why am I telling you this?
These reasons:
1.) We are beginning to attract some cool sponsors that appreciate us. Please "embrace" these sponsors and see them as helping our cause.
2.) My promise to you remains: 100% privacy! I will never, EVER sell, trade or distribute your personal information in any way. We have a good thing going and we WILL protect it.
3.) Sponsors in our Dot Com Directory hope to be considered when our need for their products and services arises. Please do what you can to know them. (This week, we begin a Dot Com Review that will introduce them to you.)
4.) Don't unsubscribe just because you see an ad or two. We will manage it so that these services add to the good life in Lubbock! (If they don't, we're not even contacting them.)
5.) Help us be grateful for this progress! It's time we enjoyed that fullness.
Thank you -- every one of you -- for believing in the GOOD LIFE in Lubbock with us. We treasure our relationship with you!

Kid's Birding Workshop
Young people ages nine to eleven and their parents (or adult) are invited to a “Backyard Birding” Workshop on Saturday, April 22, from 1-3pm at the Museum of Texas Tech University. Learn how to create a “squirrel-proof” bird feeder, discover the best spot to place a birdbath, and build a birdhouse that you can install in your backyard. The workshop includes a brief bird-watching session on the Museum grounds so, if you have binoculars, please bring them along. The Society of Junior Scientists “Backyard Birding” Workshop is free of charge, supported by a grant from The CH Foundation; however, space is limited and pre-registration is required. To reserve your place, to obtain further information, or to request special assistance, please call the Museum’s Education Division at 742-2432.

Empowering Women is a series of networking lunches for women. We gather, eat a nice lunch, enjoy a speaker (who encourages the power and influence within us), and take the chance to network with other women. The next two lunches will be April 27 and May 25. Make plans now to attend these two lunches where Cindy Reinhardt will lead us in the program on how to ENERGIZE YOUR WORKLIFE!
