Parade to be shown on TV
December 17 - Watch the Miracles Christmas Parade on TV! The event was recorded and will be televised on Fox34 Saturday, December 17th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM and again on UPN22 Saturday, December 17th from 7:00 until 9:00 PM. The Miracles Christmas Parade benefited Lubbock Meals on Wheels, Toys for Tots, and several other area non-profit organizations.

Cool classes for kids start in January!
There is a program for kids (grades K - 6) and their parents (or adult mentors) to learn and experience the arts on four consecutive Saturdays in January 2006. January's sessions include digital photography, basic drawing, puppetry, and dance. For more information and to sign up, contact the LHUCA - Center for the Arts - at 762.8606.

December 16-18 - It's a Wonderful Life at the Lubbock Community Theater Directed by Scott Crew. The heartwarming tale of Everyman George Bailey.

December 16-18 - Ballet Lubbock’s presentation of the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker. The performance features a cast of over 120 area dancers with guest artists from New York City including Lubbock native, NaTalia Johnson. Friday at 8, Saturday at 2 and 8, and Sunday at 2. Select a Seat for tickets or also available at the door.

December 16, 17 - Live Nativity Scene. The story of Christmas is re-enacted at this free production that children and adults alike will enjoy with live animals, complete with camels, sheep, and cows. Live nativity scene shows from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and scenes happen every few minutes so viewers can arrive any time for the full presentation. Indiana Avenue Baptist Church is located at 411 N. University (Dartmouth Ave and N. University).

December 17 - 'Chronicles of Narnia' at Weekly Storytime Come in from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season to hear the tales of a far-away land known as Narnia. These picture books bring the advemtures alive for even the youngest Kings and Queens. 11:00 AM at Barnes & Noble

December 17 - “The Wondrous Santa Suit” Lubbock Centro Aztlan invites you to a 7:00 p.m. Dinner Theater presentation at the LHU Center for the Arts. The story of José, a garbage collector, focuses on Josés quest for holiday gifts for his family and how his love beckons the miracles of Christmas. The event will feature a full meal of tamales and frijoles borrachos, along with entertainment by Mariachi Mi Tierra and the Ballet Folklorico Aztlan. Individual tickets are priced at $18. Proceeds help to promote the arts within the Hispanic community. Call 763.3841 for more information.

December 17 (and 23, 30, 31) - The Lubbock Cotton Kings features good hockey, CHICKEN DANCE, the KISS CAM, the INTERMISSION GAMES, the CHUCK A PUCK, and there's ELI walking around visiting with kids.

December 17 - 'Eternal Route 66' Pastor Chuck Williams' book, "Eternal Route 66" motivates and inspires with the sights, stories, and people along Route 66. Through December 23 - Santa Land at Mackenzie Park 6-10 pm.features a nice holiday setting with a huge Christmas Tree and a stroll to visit with Santa. This runs Nightly throughout December and it's FREE! Polaroids of the children with Santa cost extra but are optional.

Through December 23 - Star, Cross, Angel - The 8th Annual Lubbock Arts Alliance Holiday Exhibition. Monday through Friday. 511 Avenue K, Lubbock.

Through January 8, 2006 - The Dirk West Exhibit at the Museum of Texas Tech.

An intimate evening featuring High Plains Irish Dancers and 6 West Texas Celtic Ensembles: County Hockey Ceili, Jupiter 16, Perrin-Cooper, Mike Proper School of Highland Piping, Roan Inish and Tripping Up the Stairs. There will also be traditional refreshments and a raffle. Advance admission is $5. Tickets at the door are $9. 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.

December 24 - 'The Night Before Christmas' at Weekly Storytime Children of all ages are invited to this timely telling of 'The Night Before Christmas'. Enjoy holiday treats as you relax from your last-minute shopping. 11:00 AM at Barnes & Noble

December 29 – 31 The annual Caprock AMBUCS Holiday Basketball Tournament will feature 57 high school teams competing - 28 boys' teams and 29 girls' teams. Proceeds go to various local charities.

December 31 - Happy New Year at Weekly Storytime
