April 9….The Matador Singers - The Matador Singers (Men's Chorus) will present a mini-concert. This is an opportunity to sing for the student body and members of the community who wish to hear this fine ensemble. The music will be familiar and entertaining. Karl Dent, director. April 10….2nd Annual Easter Egg Drop – Everyone is invited to a this free event where 50,000 Easter eggs will be dropped out of a helicopter over Lowery Field. There will be live music, food, inflatables, prizes, and many other fun activities. Presented by Experience Life Church. Lowery Field, 66th St. and Ave. P; 5 p.m.

April 10….Lubbock Unwrapped, “Classic Rock Mega Hits” - Lubbock's own version of "Saturday Night Live" features this week’s guest host Don McBeth. Classic Rock Mega Hits features the talents of Chad Chestnut, John Sprott, Jason Fellers & Billy McClaran, backed by the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine. Starring comedy cast includes Jane Prince-Jones, Kurt Kiser, Christopher Gossett and Jacie Hood. Special musical guest is West Texas singer/songwriter Jenee Jones. Tickets are $25. April 10-11 (also 17, 18, 19)….. Day Out With Thomas 2009: The Hero of the Rails Tour –
Thomas the Tank Engine is coming to save the day! This fun-filled event offers preschoolers and their families the opportunity to take a 25-minute ride with a 15-ton replica of Thomas the Tank Engine, star of the popular Thomas & Friends series. Children will ride along with their favorite hero on his latest adventure. There will be an opportunity to meet Sir Topham Hatt, activities for the whole family, including arts & crafts, storytelling, video viewing, live music, and exclusive commemorative merchandise. April 10-11 (also 17-18, 24-25)….CATS Playhouse production of "My Hero!" - A comedy musical melodrama by local playwright Whitney Ryan Garrity with music by Aaron Latino. April 10-11….The Garza Theater’s Production of "Moon Over Buffalo" – This comedy was written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Mickie Klafka. Charlotte and George Hay, an acting couple not exactly the Lunts, are on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertory consisting of Cyrano de Bergerac (revised, one nostril version) and Noel Coward's Private Lives. Fate has given these thespians one more shot at starring roles in The Scarlet Pimpernel epic and director Frank Capra himself is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. Will Charlotte appear or run off with their lawyer? Will George be sober enough to emote? Hilarious misunderstandings pile on madcap misadventures, in this valentine to theatre hams everywhere. Lubbock Community Theatre’s Production of "I Hate Hamlet" - ·A young and successful television actor moves to New York, rents a marvelous Gothic-style apartment that is haunted by the ghost of the world’s greatest Hamlet, John Barrymore. The fact that the actor hates Hamlet is just the beginning of the hilarity. Written by Paul Rudnick and directed by Leah Tyson. Rating: Comedy, PG-13. April 11….Vintage Township Easter Egg Hunt - This is an annual event not to be missed. The sight is spectacular watching hundreds of kids finding thousands of eggs. The hunt is organized by age group, and there is plenty of food and live music to be enjoyed by everyone. And the day would not be complete without the telling of the Easter story. April 13….Local Author at the Mahon Library -
Local author Michael Davis will read his children’s book Bumperly Bumper Bee. There will be a book signing after the reading. A portion of the proceeds from each book sold supports the education of children with dyslexia. For information, call 775-2838. Mahon Library, 1306 9th Street; 10:30 a.m.

April 17-18….The Baseball Music Project – A multimedia presentation with images, narration, video, and the greatest music ever written about America’s favorite pastime. Baseball Hall-of-Famer Dave Winfield will be the host as he takes the audience through an evening of cultural lineage, historical significance, electrifying music and fun. City Bank Auditorium, 2720 Drive of Champions; April 17 at 8 p.m.and April 18 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.

April 18….Maxey's 1st Annual Kite Flying & Wind Art Festival - Create wind inspired arts and crafts such as windsocks and simple kites. After you create your wind art take it outside and let it fly. Appropriate age group: ages all children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Cost: $1. Pre- registration required. To register, come down to Maxey Community Center. April 24….The Lubbock Women's Club Historical Foundation Annual Fundraiser – This year’s event, "Lasso a Lexus" will give guests a chance to win a new ES350 Lexus sedan. Tickets are priced at $100 and includes gourmet dinner, entertainment, and a chance to win a new ES350 Lexus sedan. Tickets may be purchased by calling Kim, at 763-6448. Proceeds go to fund restoration and maintenance of the Club's building which is designated a historical landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Additionally, funds will be used to purchase an elevator which will provide ADA access for the Lubbock community. Lubbock Women's Club, 2020 Broadway; 7 p.m.- 10 p.m.
