April 24....Empowering Women Luncheon - Speaker is Susan Cannon, author of "Where Hearts Gather." Susan has written a cookbook with stories about the heart of the home - the kitchen. Lunch is $20 and is served at 11:40 a.m. if you would like to network. April 24 - 26...."Movin' Out"- Presented by Celebrity Attractions, this is the Tony® Award winning musical conceived, choreographed and directed by Twyla Tharp and based on 24 classic songs by Billy Joel. The first national tour received the 2005 "Best New Musical" and "Best Choreography" Awards from The League of American Theaters and Producers Touring Broadway Awards. April 25....The Magical Moments of the 50’s and 60’s - Remember the Drifters, the Platters, James Brown and Aretha? That’s just a sample of the great artists whose songs will be showcased by Sheena Fadeyi, Brandon Gwinn, Billy McClaran, Jeff McCreight and introducing newcomer to the Cactus stage, Engelo Charles. Hosted by the effervescent Kurt Kiser and backed by the best band around, The Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine. Reserved seat tickets $25/$20; Cactus Theatre, 1812 Buddy Holly Avenue, 7:30 p.m.

April 25-26....Texas Tech Scholarship Orchestra - The TTU orchestra and choirs will be joined by the Lubbock Chorale for a performance of Johannes Brahms' "German Requiem." While this work expresses the despair of death like the classic requiem, it also beautifully expresses profound hope. It is considered by many to be the greatest choral work by any of the masters. April 26....38th Annual Ranch Day at the National Ranching Heritage Center - This year's theme is "Rockin' RH Rodeo," with events for the whole family, including a mechanical buckin' bronc, rope and loop making, horseback rides, stick horse rodeo, horseshoeing by Blane Chapman, cowboy and pioneer activities, music, dancing and more. April 26....10th Annual Blue Ribbon Rally: Car and Bike Show - In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention the Family Guidance & Outreach Center will host this fundraising event which provides 100% of the financial support for the Center’s education and community programs. Entrance into the day long event is free and includes a Car & Bike show, with multiple vendors and outdoor music and a Children’s Area. Other activities include a Fun Run and a silent auction. Tickets purchased for $30 each or 4 for $100 will include entrance to the evening’s concert featuring Lubbock favorite Jay Boy Adams beginning at 7 p.m. in the Cactus Courtyard...and the opportunity to win a 2008 Harley-Davidson Road King. April 27.....Cactus Kids Through the Years - Travel “through the years” as we re-visit spring productions of days gone by. This program by The Lubbock Master Gardener’s Association. will include topics such as lawns (grasses, fertilization, weed control & watering), plants (tomatoes,container gardening, raised bed gardening), and waterwise gardening (landscaping, Texas SmartScape, & Texas trees). Cost for all three nights is $45. May 2-3....The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra: Bohemians and Their Rhapsodies - Conclusion of the 2007-08 Global Journeys season with the Grand Finale Concert featuring works of two of the greatest Bohemian masters, Antonín Dvorák and Gustav Mahler. Performance will include Dvorak’s Concerto for Violin in a minor, featuring violinist Yuval Yaron and Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 1. May 2-4, 9-11, and 16-18....Lubbock Community Theatre: "Same Time, Next Year" - One of the most popular romantic comedies of the century, ran four years on Broadway, was a successful motion picture, and remains one of the most widely produced plays in history. It follows a love affair between people who rendezvous once a year. Twenty five years of manners, morals and attitudes are hilariously mirrored by the lovers. Directed By: Joseph Ginnane; The Firehouse Theatre, Louise H. Underwood Center, 511 Avenue K, 8 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sundays.

May 17.....Annual Gala Fundraiser for the National Ranching Heritage Center - Spend an evening "Under The Tuscan Moon" with an Italian theme, decorations, menu and activities.
