This weekend is packed with fun ... and it will be well worth the effort to squeeeze them all in!

Monster Mural ... is the first thing you'll see at the Arts Festival when you arrive. Our friends at Xanadoo are the sponsors of this 20-foot-long MONSTER size mural you'll see as you come in the entire festival. AND... if you come to the festival between 10:00 and 3:00 on Saturday, photographer Al Henderson will be on hand to take a family photo! Then you can review it online and get one later if you want. Lubbock's Idol
If you're a fan of the tv show ... this "Lubbock version" may be right up your alley. The first 100 registrants get to sing. There are 200 chairs where spectators can watch and listen. But the winner gets a real treat - a trip to the American Idol finals! This should be verrrrry interesting. You must be 16 to enter. Art, artisans, crafts, entertainment and things for kids too!
I saw the booths setting up on Wednesday and the Civic Center is packed with interesting artists and entertainment scheduled for the weekend. Hours for the weekend are: more>

Musical to Plan around
“Dear Edwina”
is a fun musical about a girl whose talent is to give advice. she wants to take Dr. Joyce Brothers place at the Kalamazoo Advice aPalooza festival and puts on a show in her garage for a talent scout. The music in this show is super fun and deals with things like: how to set the table, saving money, saying hello, and saying no thank-you.darling musical with children actors presented at the Lubbock Arts Festival on Friday 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, and 1:30 pm ; Saturday 11:00 am at the outdoor stage.

Airbrush T-Shirts at our Fun Club booth If your child is like mine, they take every chance they get to buy a Toonz Ink shirt with their name airbrushed on there. On Saturday (only) from 10:00 to 2:00 ... be sure and stop by and get yours at the Arts Festival in our Fun Club booth. Wes will be there at least from 10:00 to 2:00 -- maybe longer.

Lunch on Sunday
Lubbock's best restaurants will serve their entrees in one place! Sample what ever you want, judge, and it's only $8 bucks for lunch ($5 for kids!) The Golden Fork Culinary Competition is next Sunday at the Civic Center Banquet Room. Don't miss it. Time: Begins 12:30 P.M.

Correction! Baby Sale Bonanza is THIS SATURDAY, April 22 at Maxey Community Center. 9:00 am to Noon. Purchase infant, toddler, pre-school clothing (up to size 5T), maternity items, toys, and miscellaneous accessories in a community garage sale setting! (We apologize if the date from last week caused you any inconvenience.)

April 21-22 - Toastmasters Conference will be held at the Holiday Inn Civic Center on Avenue Q. Visitors are free and they can contact our Chairman to pay for meals for Sat. lunch and Sat. evening. There will be two speech contests, one in the morning "Tall Tales Contest" and then the "International Speech Contest" at the evening banquet. We will have appx. 3-4 guest speakers at the Conference, in between the Lunch and Dinner banquet. The Guest Speakers will feature two very important people, Nancy Starr-Cassidy, Toastmasters International Director and Jim Key, 2003 World Champion of Public Speaking. April 21 - 22 - The American Cancer Society annual Relay For Life event will be held at Frenship High School. The event begins at 7:00 p.m. and continues until 7:00 a.m. We would love to have your organization join us. April 21, 22, 28, 29, May 5, 6, 7 - Garza Theatre presents "MASH"

April 22 – The “Speak up for Kids” CASA 5K run/walk and health fair. The event will kick off at 8 a.m. on Saturday April 22, 2006 at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion where sponsors will have booths and provide information on living a healthy lifestyle and health screenings. The 5K race would get underway at 9 a.m. and travel throughout the Tech campus. The race will end on the field of Jones SBC Stadium. There is a $15 entry fee and participants will receive a Speak Up For Kids T-Shirt. There will also be a separate 1K fun run for kids, especially targeting local children who are victims of abuse and neglect. For more information, call 763-2272.

April 22 - Kid's Birding Workshop. The Tech Museum’s Society of Junior Scientists invites young people ages nine to eleven and their adult to join them in the “Backyard Birding” Workshop on Saturday, April 22, from 1-3pm at the Museum of Texas Tech University. Learn how to create a “squirrel-proof” bird feeder, discover the best spot to place a birdbath, and build a birdhouse that you can install in your backyard.
