Here are brief descriptions of the plays: “The Danish” by Alan Woods. Elderly retired couple enjoy(?) a breakfast of their favorite pastry. Cast: Janis Geddes, Darrell Vines; Director: Duane Christian. “Dinner Plans” by Vicki Bartholomew. Two sisters and three friends (widows or singles all) meet for coffee and recipe sharing as they each plan special dinners for new male prospects. Cast: Tanya Crump, Leilani Fillhard, Janis Geddes, Verna Pettit, Jackie Scott; Director: Darrell Vines. “The Talking Bench” by Kent R. Brown. Daughter intervenes as Mother prepares to fly alone to Italy, leaving Father behind, both literally and figuratively. Cast: Tanya Crump, Leilani Fillhard, Jess Peterson, Director: Ronnie Hughes. February 11….February’s Art with Aimee
- Sign up for Art with Aimee, a seasonally themed kid’s party / parent’s night out for kids ages 6-12. Kids will enjoy pizza, drinks, and a sweet treat. For February, the party theme is Valentines Party. Kids will have fun crafting pop-up Valentine cards, making & eating my valentine heart shaped cookies, listening and dancing to music, and engaging in the Hidden Valentine Find Scavenger Hunt. February 12….Downtown Art Market - This outdoor event features over 30 local artists and growers all showcasing their work. Booths will be set up in the Gallery, the Artlab next door, the Gallery garden and along the sidewalks on Buddy Holly. Paintings, leather work, metal work, crafts, produce and other unique gift items will be for sale. Come downtown and see what all the talk is about, meet your friends and celebrate this cultural district event! More local artists are encouraged to show their work in a booth. February 12….2nd Saturday Program – The Lubbock Memorial Arboretum is the place to be this Saturday for the Second Saturday Gardening program. The topic is "Soil Testing and Recommendations” presented by Scot Coleman from A&L Plains Ag Labs. Lubbock Memorial Arboretum, 4111 University Avenue. Refreshments served at 9:30 a.m.; program begins at 10 a.m.

February 12….Sounds of West Texas (Benefit Concert) – Some of Lubbock’s finest musicians will be presenting a "Night of Classic Love Songs." This show will be a benefit for 25-year-old Keith Hayes who has Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is in need of a bone marrow stem cell transplant. There will be a silent auction that will begin at 6 p.m. and all ticket proceeds will be to benefit Keith and his wife Erin. The music will be mostly classic country with some pop nostalgia and gospel music as well. Friends of the Library 1/2 Price Book Lovers Sale - Friends of the Lubbock Public Library (FOL) would like to invite the public to the annual 1/2 price book sale which raises funds to support a wide variety of programs for the Lubbock Public Libraries. There will be bargains galore, books, books on tape and cd, vhs and dvd movies, music on vinyl, tape and cd, a silent auction, and a large selection of framed art. Mahon Library basement, 1306 9th Street. Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday: 1 to 4 p.m.

February 13….2nd Annual YWCA Father Daughter Dance - Little girls and their fathers have been waiting for this for a year! Enjoy an enchanted evening at the Legacy. February 14….Hub Performing Arts School Spring Semester Starts (Re-scheduled) - The start of the Spring Semester has been rescheduled to this coming Monday due to all the weather delays!. Show classes and the Advanced Performance Team are performing The Musical Adventures Of Flat Stanley Jr. The Advanced Acting Class for older kids will be performing a one act play at the end of the semester.
