June 3…."SOS" (Adult Singles 50+) Monthly Dinner - Wear your casual clothes and come join the SOS singles for another great evening! Also...Happy Hour is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. so if you want to come early, feel free! The outside patio will be reserved for our group. Restaurant management requests no checks please – cash or debit/credit card only. Joe’s Crab Shack, 5802 West Loop 289. Gather at 6 p.m. for social time; then, at 7 p.m you may order dinner from the menu.


June 3….Foster Fandango
-, Lubbock Interagency Adoption Counsel (LIAC) will be hosting an event called Foster Fandango. Several child placing agencies in Lubbock will provide information about being a foster parent and/or adopting a foster child. June 4….First Friday Art Trail - See the regular art venues, plus the exciting monthly additions showcasing art and artists downtown and throughout Lubbock. Catch a trolley or bus at many of the locations or pick up a FFAT map at any of the venues to see the art that can be found throughout our community each month during the event. First Friday Art Trail trolleys run continuously in downtown Lubbock during FFAT hours. The trolleys are free, and you will find a "trolleyteer" on each trolley who is a treasure trove of info about FFAT and the arts in Lubbock and will help you navigate with ease. For more info and complete schedule click HERE! This continually evolving event runs throughout downtown and the Depot District from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.

June 4….Del Castillo in Concert - This Latin sensation is back on the Cactus stage performing their eclectic blend of flamenco, rock, Latin, blues and world music. Don't miss Del Castillo with their smooth groov'n', serpentine, percussion-heavy, Gypsy-guitar-flavored rock! Tickets are priced at only $20. June 4-5 (repeats June 11-13, 18-19)….“The Jungle Book” – The Garza Theatre presents this classic by Thomas W. Olson, adapted from the story by Rudyard Kipling. “ The Jungle Book” transports audiences to mystical India and the tale of the young “man-cub,” Mowgli, a boy raised by animals who inhabits this mysterious jungle. Befriended by some animals and pursued by others, Mowgli is eventually forced to choose between the animal kingdom and the more “civilized” human world. June 5….2nd Annual Resident Porch and Yard Sale -
Get out your wagons and walking shoes because you are going to need them to haul home all the great items you’ll find at the annual Vintage Township porch sale. Neighbors will have items for sale out on their porches or in the front yards. Vintage Township, 114th Street between Quaker Avenue and Slide Road; 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.

June 5….Sixth Annual Healthy Lubbock Day - This free three-hour event is hosted by the Healthy Lubbock Initiative, a program of the Garrison Institute on Aging, City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation and presented by Bodyworks Family Sports Center, which seeks to make Lubbock and its surrounding communities a healthier place by supporting and motivating people to become active through physical activity and improved nutrition. Some of this year’s events will include the Healthy Lubbock Day Amazing Race obstacle course, in which family and friends can compete against each other in a battle of fitness and wits. Bodyworks’ Monster City; complete with a spider climb and climbing wall, prizes, paddle boats, a bike rodeo and health screenings for all ages, as well as a series of demonstrations such as; Tai Chi, Pilates and self defense will be available for all participants. Children attending the bike rodeo are encouraged to bring their own bikes and helmets. Free health screenings including blood sugar, blood pressure, body fat and more, child and adult immunizations, as well as about 60 vendors sharing information on health, fitness and nutrition. Interactive exercise demonstrations will include Lubbock’s 2nd Annual Largest Zumba class at 10:30 a.m., Fitness in the Park with Yoga, Kettle Bells and Beginners Ballroom and more. Community Health Center of Lubbock will provide child immunizations (shot record required). The first 200 participants to attend will receive a free drawstring backpack. All activities are FREE. At 11:45 p.m., the winners of the community-wide Healthy Lubbock Day Amazing Race will be announced to close the event. June 5….2nd Annual Peace Love & Mud Volleyball Tournament - Come get muddy, play volleyball and support a great cause! There will be 8 courts with 48 teams of 8-10 team members (at least 4 guys/ girls 18 & over). Teams will play 5 games with opportunity to advance to the playoffs. June 5….SOS (Adult Singles 50+) “Strut Your Stuff” Picnic – Come and strut your stuff and bring your “special” vehicles that you want to show off - and ladies wear your favorite hat! SOS will provide root beer floats! If you have a volleyball or basketball, there is a court to play on. That court can also double as a dance floor. Bring potluck, your lawn chair and sunscreen. une 5-6….66th Annual D-Day Commemoration - On June 6, 1944, allied forces conducted a two phased assault on German occupied France. An air assault of American, British, Canadian and Free French airborne troops landed behind enemy lines to coordinate attacks on German support artillery and supply positions. The attacks would usher in the amphibious landing of Allied infantry and armored divisions on the coast of France. The operation was the largest amphibious invasion of all time. The Silent Wings Museum will commemorate the 66th Anniversary of D-Day with a two-day event. The Museum will host a reception on Saturday, June 5, with special guest speakers and an unveiling of a new exhibit of selected rare photographs taken by German War Correspondent, Friedrich Wilhelm Jakobsmeier. The event will also feature WWII aircraft displays, the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team, the U.S. 1st Infantry Division Living History Group and children’s activities. Refreshments provided. Admission is free of charge. Silent Wings Museum, 6202 N I-27; Saturday: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m., Sunday: 12 p.m.- 5 p.m.

Westwinds Brass Band's Sunday Concerts in the Park - Bring your picnics, lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy the Westwinds Brass Band out under the stars at Wagner Park! Enjoy the evening and hear the nostalgic music while visiting with your neighbor....or meet a new one! A children's march is always included so come see what it's all about! One hour performance.
