April 1….SOS Monthly Dinner - Spring is in the air! Come and enjoy a great evening with the Lubbock Fun Club Single SOS group. Come on out for some great old school Italian restaurant type food, and of course great fellowship and the opportunity to meet new friends. Side room reserved for the Lubbock Fun Club SOS group. April 1-3….The 68th Annual ABC Rodeo
- Rodeo events at each and every performance include saddle bronc, bareback, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing, muttin bustin and bull riding. Come out and see the top PRCA cowboys compete! Tickets available at Select-A-Seat and at the door for each performance. Lubbock City Bank Coliseum, next to Jones AT&T stadium on 4th street & Boston Avenue; 7:30 p.m. each night plus a Saturday matinee at 1:30 p.m.

April 2 ….First Friday Art Trail - Catch a trolley or bus at many of the locations or pick up a FFAT map at any of the venues to see the art that can be found throughout our community each month during the event. First Friday Art Trail trolleys run continuously in downtown Lubbock during FFAT hours. The trolleys are free, and you will find a "trolleyteer" on each trolley who is a treasure trove of info about FFAT and the arts in Lubbock and will help you navigate with ease. This continually evolving event runs throughout downtown and the Depot District from 6 p.m.- 9 p.m. For this particular First Friday event, LHUCA is proud to announce the opening of their new Graffiti Education building! It will house educational programs and provide a state of the art exhibition space. For the inaugural event, Cooper High school student Marissa Bolton will be working in conjunction with the Make-a-Wish Foundation to raise money and awareness for the organization that has personally touched her life. This will be the last month for "Women Who Paint" featuring Toni Arnett, Janet Byant Bybel, and Susan Nall in the Devitt Exhibition Hall. Rachel and Daniel Ballard will present their photography exhibit, "Underwear Experiment" in the HDJ Studio Gallery. In the Lott Gallery, Lahib Jaddo will present "Doll", a group show that she curated. The Martin McDonald Hall Gallery will feature "Paint a Cake"...an interactive event celebrating that most delectable of desserts. You draw it! You paint it! The Helen DeVitt Jones Clay Studio will have a studio-wide clay show and sale. All clay studio participants ranging from clay studio students to Taste of Clay and Open Studio participants will have work to show and sell. Ballet Lubbock will present two preview performances of Sleeping Beauty in the Firehouse Theatre at 7 and 8 p.m. Throughout the evening, music will be provided by the Texas Tech University Graduate Wind Quintet. April 2-3 (repeats April 9-11)….“The Rainmaker” - Set in a drought-ridden rural town in the West in Depression era America, the play tells the story of a pivotal hot summer day in the life of spinsterish Lizzie Curry. Lizzie keeps house for her father and two brothers on the family cattle ranch. As their farm languishes under the devastating drought, Lizzie's family worries about her marriage prospects more than their dying cattle. A charming confidence trickster named Starbuck arrives and promises to bring rain in exchange for $100. His arrival sets off a series of events which enable Lizzie to see herself in a new light. This Garza Theater production is written by N. Richard Nash and directed by Jay Young. April 3….Community Easter Egg Hunt EggstravaganzaCome and join this family event hosted by St. Lukes Southwest. There will be an egg hunt, arts and crafts, refreshments, and more! As a special treat, the Easter bunny will be there, too! St. Luke's Southwest, 98th Street and Frankford Avenue; 9:30 a.m.- 11 a.m.

April 3…. The Vintage Family Easter Celebration
All are invited to this event hosted by Live Oak Community Church. All activities are free of charge including Westwinds Brass Band, barbershop quartet, live bunnies for pictures, costumed Easter bunny for pictures, cotton candy, Easter egg hunt, popcorn, sidewalk chalk art contest, children’s choir, 1950’s automobiles from the “Nifty-Fifties” Car Club and choo-choo train rides for the kids. Founder’s Park in Vintage Township, located on Trafalgar Avenue on 114th Street between Quaker and Slide; 2 p.m.- 4 p.m.

"Kids' Fun Fair 2010"
Deadline Nearing for Vendor Spaces

Kid’s Fun Fair 2010 allows business owners, parents and their kids the opportunity to learn about the services and products available in our community in a lively, energetic environment. Vendors who have participated in the past include pre-schools, camps, private schools, churches, children’s party entertainment services, health professionals and a variety of family-friendly businesses.

The fair will run from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on May 1 with entertainment in the form of clowns, children’s performance groups and will include some new surprises for those who've attended our events in the past!
