February 4….Lubbock Fun Club "SOS" Singles (Adults 50+) Monthly Dinner – The next SOS dinner is just around the corner and another great evening is planned like last year at the Hillcrest Country Club with an Italian Buffet. The meal will include lasagna, breast of chicken alfredo fettuccini, zucchini casserole, garlic bread, cheesecake, and ice tea. The cost is $14.25 per person (cash only, all inclusive and pay at the door). Please reply by 6 p.m. on Monday, February 1st. Reservations must be made in advance so the count can be turned into the country club. For questions or to RSVP call Jeanne at 777-9484. February 5….First Friday Art Trail - See the regular art venues, plus the exciting monthly additions showcasing art and artists downtown and throughout Lubbock. Catch a trolley or bus at many of the locations or pick up a FFAT map at any of the venues to see the art that can be found throughout our community each month during the event. First Friday Art Trail trolleys run continuously in downtown Lubbock during FFAT hours. The trolleys are free, and you will find a "trolleyteer" on each trolley who is a treasure trove of info about FFAT and the arts in Lubbock and will help you navigate with ease. For more info and complete schedule click HERE! This continually evolving event runs throughout downtown and the Depot District from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

February 5….Del Castillo in Concert - Del Castillo continues to pack the house at the Cactus Theater and bring new and exciting material every time they come. Tickets are only $20. Cactus Theater; 1812 Buddy Holly Ave; 7:30 p.m.

February 5-6 (repeats Feb. 12-13, 19-20)….CATS Playhouse: "Coming Back to Jersey" - This show, directed by Rolando Rivera, will be an original comedy by Texas playwright Carl Williams, winner of the 2009 Cordell Green Play Writing Festival at CATS Playhouse. February 5-7 (repeats Feb. 12-13)….“Emmaus” – There are only have 2 more weekends left of "Emmaus" at Ragtown Gospel Theater. This production is unlike any done there, due to the fact that all the others have been the testimonies of other people about their relationship with Jesus. This is His own testimony. Added to the performance are some visual marvels that you will make you blink and say, "how did they do that?" Also, if you have not seen this unbelievably beautiful theater, you are in for a special treat. Just to walk in the door of the theater will take you back 2000 years to the ancient city of Jerusalem with stone pillars, statuary, and huge murals.. The first half of the program is southern gospel music (Gaither style)...followed by this gripping performance of "Emmaus.” For tickets visit ragtown.com or call 1-877-RAGTOWN (724-8696). February 5-7….“Bus Stop” - In the middle of a howling snowstorm, a bus out of Kansas City pulls up at a cheerful roadside diner. All roads are blocked, and four or five weary travelers are going to have to hole up until morning. Cherie, a nightclub chanteuse in a sparkling gown and a seedy fur-trimmed jacket, is the passenger with most to worry about. She's been pursued, made love to and finally kidnapped by a twenty-one-year-old cowboy with a ranch of his own and the romantic methods of an unusually headstrong bull. The belligerent cowhand is right behind her, ready to sling her over his shoulder and carry her, alive and kicking, all the way to Montana. Even as she's ducking out from under his clumsy but confident embraces, and screeching at him fiercely to shut him up, she pauses to furrow her forehead and muse, "Somehow deep inside of me I got a funny feeling I'm gonna end up in Montana..." As a counterpoint to the main romance, the proprietor of the cafe and the bus driver at last find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle-age scholar comes to terms with himself; and a young girl who works in the cafe also gets her first taste of romance. Written by William Inge and Directed by Jay C. Brown. Rating: Drama PG 13. February 6….Children’s Dental Health Fair - Join the South Plains District Dental Society for their annual Children’s Dental Health Fair at the Science Spectrum. This annual health awareness fair is always a huge family hit. Not only will families receive invaluable oral health information and lots of free “toothy” giveaways, but will also have a blast doing it! Best of all, the event and regular Science Spectrum Museum admission is totally free to all children up to age 12. This is a great opportunity for families that may not regularly attend the Science Spectrum to try it out and see all the great family fun and learning that awaits them! Enjoy these free activities: children’s dental health screenings, kids toothbrush & dental health giveaways, lots of booths with great oral health information, tons of cool games and prizes, face painting & balloons, awesome door prizes. Children up to age 12 will be admitted free to the Science Spectrum Museum from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. only. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. February 6….Donnie Allison presents A Tribute to Buddy Holly: "The Day The Music Died" - Literally thousands saw Donnie Allison's internationally acclaimed portrayal of Buddy Holly in "Buddy, The Buddy Holly Story" at the Cactus Theater in the late 90's. For years you have requested Buddy Holly music performed by Donnie Allison and this tribute is long awaited - a performance you won't want to miss. One Night Only! February 7…. Big Game Blow Out for the Children's Advocacy Center of the South Plains - Come join in the fun and watch the big game. Food, snacks, soft drinks all night!
