FRIDAY and SATURDAY

July 10, 11 (also July 17, 18, 24, 25)…."Epic Proportions" - The Annual Harley Sadler show was written by Larry Coen and David Crane and directed by Zachery Kocurek. Set in the 1930s, it tells the story of brothers Benny and Phil, who go to the Arizona desert to work as extras in the Biblical epic film "Exeunt Omnes," directed by the mysteriously reclusive D.W. DeWitt. All 3400 extras are supervised by Louise Goldman, who divides them into groups of four. While Phil's status as a "Three" includes relatively pleasant scenes of feasts and parades, brother Benny is a "Four," meaning he is included in all ten plagues. As things progress and everything begins to fall apart, Phil finds himself behind the cameras as the film's director, with Benny in a starring role. The two fall in love with Louise, leading to a brother vs. brother rivalry typical of epic movies. Tickets are on sale now and can be reserved by calling the box office, (806) 495-4005. "Guys & Dolls"

July 17-18, 24, 31, and August 8, 15 and 21….Lubbock Moonlight Musicals Production of “Guys and Dolls” - The winner of five Tony Awards including the award for Best Musical, Guys and Dolls includes the hit numbers A Bushel and a Peck and Luck Be a Lady and numerous others. New York, the city that never sleeps. From the news seller to the chorus girl, from the gambler to the missionary - all of them caught up in the teeming vitality of the city streets. All the hot gamblers are in town, and they're all depending on Nathan Detroit to set up this week's incarnation of "The Oldest Established Permanent Floating Crap Game in New York"; the only problem is, he needs $1000 to get the place. Throw in Sarah Brown, who's short on sinners at the mission she runs; Sky Masterson, who accepts Nathan's $1000 bet that he can't get Sarah Brown to go with him to Havana; Miss Adelaide, who wants Nathan to marry her; Police Lieutenant Brannigan, who always seems to appear at the wrong time; and the music/lyrics of Frank Loesser, and you've got quite a musical. The original London production opened in 1953 and ran for 555 performances. Guys and Dolls was one of the greatest successes that the Broadway theatre has known. In 1955 the film version was released, starring Marlon Brando, Frank Sinatra, and Jean Simmons, with Vivian Blaine reprising her role. Tickets are available in advance at all Select-a-Seat outlets or by calling Select-a-Seat at (806) 770-2000 or 1-800-735-1288. Tickets can also be purchased in advance at their web site at www.selectaseatlubbock.com. Tickets are also sold at the gate on an as-available basis. For more info, refer to the Lubbock Moonlight Musicals website, www.lubbockmoonlightmusicals.org or contact Executive Director Jill Kerns at lubbockmoonlightmusicals@gmail.com.
