March 13, 14….Lubbock Unwrapped “A Tribute to Rod Stewart” – This week’s guest host is Annette Sykora. A tribute to the music of British rock 'n' roll icon Rod Stewart. Featuring the talented Owen Franklin, backed by the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine. Starring comedy cast includes Jane Prince Jones, Kurt Kiser, Christopher Gossett and Jacie Hood. Special musical guest is West Texas singer/songwriter Andy Eppler. Tickets are $25. Cactus Theater, 1812 Buddy Holly Ave; 7:30 p.m.

March 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28…."Judas the Lost Apostle" - With some very surprising visual effects, this play is indeed a riviting performance. Just seeing the set, as the curtain opens, causes the audience to gasp. Coupled with the gospel music concert preceeding the play...it proves to be a wonderful evening. Tickets are $20 for adults...students are 1/2 price...and group rates are available. Announcing a two weekend "holdover." Many have said this is the best production they have seen on this stage. March 14….Science Spectrum 20th Birthday Party - 2009 marks the 20th Anniversary of the Science Spectrum as a local non-profit museum. Beginning at 2 p.m. free birthday cupcakes and ice cream will be served to the first 500 people in attendance. There will also be elephant rides, feedings, and photos, a petting zoo provided by Kenny’s Korral, special science demonstrations and hands-on activities. In celebration of the 20th Anniversary for four days only from March 14-17th, get $20 off a new or renewed explorer 5 person annual Membership. Fees will apply for rides, feeding or photos with the elephants or animals at the petting zoo. Membership must be purchased on site at the Science Spectrum during the four day promotional period. If you don’t get a chance to come by on the actual birthday party day, don’t worry, the elephants and petting zoo will be sticking around for a few extra days, March 14-17, for some Spring Break fun. March 14….Greyhound Meet & Greet “Lucky Greyhound, Lucky You”- Meet greyhound owners and their dogs. Learn about adopting your own retired racing greyhound. Several dogs will be released to the group during March. Some of the owners will dress up a bit to reflect the upcoming holiday. An interesting note: many of the dogs have an Irish origin in their early bloodlines. This is an excellent time to get your application in and adopt one of these wonderful dogs for your very own. March 14….12th Annual City Lights Charity Ball - The Texas Tech University Health Science Center's class of 2012 is pleased to announce the 12th Annual Lubbock City Lights Charity Ball. A silent and live auction will accompany dinner, drinks, and dancing with all proceeds going to local medical charities. For more information about the event, email info@lubbockcitylights.org. March 20….Tea at Five: An Evening with Katharine Hepburn - For one night only Cactus Theater icon Jane Prince Jones returns in Matthew Lombardo’s “Tea at Five”, an intimate biographical production about one of the silver screen’s most unique and enduring personalities, Katharine Hepburn. The play, based on Ms. Hepburn’s book, Me: Stories of my Life, takes place at Hepburn’s family home in Connecticut at two distinctive time periods. This one woman play, offers an up-close and personal look at Katharine Hepburn, winner of four Oscars and undeniably “one of the world’s most admired actresses.” Don’t miss out on this fabulously performed production. March 28….Lubbock Legends Concert (Closing Centennial Celebration) - The year-long Centennial Celebration will wrap up with the Lubbock Legends Concert, hosted by Mac Davis. Ralna English, Joe Ely, Richie McDonald, Terry Allen, David Gaschen, Jennifer Smith, Terry Cook, Jay Boy Adams, Kenny Maines, Donnie Allison, Virgil Johnson, John Gillas, David Kneupper, Andy Wilkinson, Tom Braxton, Mariachi Amistad, Steena, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, The Texas Tech Choir and Lubbock Chorale, Ballet Lubbock, Ballet Folkloricos, and many, many others will take the stage.
