January 8, 10….Lubbock Girls Basketball Registration - LGB has been a leading basketball organization for girls between the grades of 3rd through 12th for over three decades. It provides girls an opportunity to enhance, not only their basketball skills, but also learn valuable lessons which they use in their daily lives. January 9…. 5th Annual TTU Voice Symposium - Recovering The Singing Voice - Featuring world-renowned singing voice specialist Professor Margaret Baroody from the Sataloff Voice Clinic and Drexel University College of Medicine. January 9….”Legacy Five” Concert with the premiere of "Judas, the Lost Apostle" - Ragtown Gospel Theater will feature one of the top Southern Gospel Groups in the country to round out a year of providing the top five gospel attractions in America. When George Younce and Glen Payne decided to retire after "reigning" 39 years with the Cathedral Quartet, two of the members wanted to continue the "legacy"...thus, Legacy Five was formed. They will be onstage for a full concert for one performance only. Tickets for this special performance are $35, with a 20% discount for groups of 12 or more. Following the concert performance, those in attendance will see the premiere production of "Judas, the Lost Apostle". This is a gripping story that audiences will never forget. All seats are handicapped accessible, with handicap parking at the door. Shuttles will bring all other patrons from the parking lot to the front door. Regular weekend performances are 7:30 on Fridays....3 p.m. on Saturdays....plus every "1st" Sunday matinee at 3 p.m. Regular pricing: $20 for adults...1/2 price for students. $15 for groups of 12 or more. January 9-10….Lubbock Unwrapped – Featuring the hit music of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons with guest host Jim Douglass. Starring favorites Jeff Bailey, Jason Fellers, Brandon Gwinn, Jane Prince-Jones, Kurt Kaiser, Christopher Gossett, The Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine, and West Texas singer/songwriter Levi Smith. Tickets $25. Cactus Theater, 1812 Buddy Holly Ave; 7:30 p.m.

January 10….Lady Raider Basketball – Big XII conference action commences with the Tech women vs. University of Texas. United Spirit Arena, 1711 Indiana; 2 p.m.

January 12….Hub Performing Arts School's Dinner Theatre –
The advanced performance team is representing Lubbock in Atlanta at the Music Theatre International Junior Theatre Festival, January 16-19. Help raise the final money needed for the trip and see the competition piece from "Godspell" and some more great entertainment. Dinner Theatre tickets are $25 and must be purchased in advance. Dinner is chicken spaghetti, salad, bread & dessert. If you are unable to attend, but would like to purchase a ticket to support the group, that is great. January 15….“Singles Coffee and Conversation” - The theme will be “internet dating” and will be led by Christy Byers. These have been very successful and are a great way to get out and meet new singles. There will be a $2 admission fee at the door. Come early to order your specialty coffee and drinks. Seminar topic will begin at 7 p.m. Bring your friends and come and get acquainted with some new singles. J&B Coffee, 2701 26th Street; 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.

January 16-17…. Lubbock Symphony Orchestra’s Production of “Out of This World” – With the dawn of the New Year, the LSO begins an expedition of strange new worlds fitting of Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey. Hearing Ligeti’s ethereal music, will enable you to visit the sounds and sonorities of the vast expanse of outer space and the stillness of the cosmos. Next, hear a child’s innocent perspective of our own world brought to you by Finzi. The Lubbock Youth Orchestra joins the LSO in the finale with Holst’s triumphant trek to our wondrous celestial neighbors. Featuring Karl Dent, tenor. January 29-31….Broadway Production of “ The Pajama Game” - Bright and riotously funny, this fast-paced, frisky tale is theatre at its very best with this sparkling, all-new production of the Tony Award winning, Broadway smash hit – THE PAJAMA GAME. The feisty employee representative has found her match in the pajama shop superintendent and when the two get together, they wind up discussing a whole lot more than job actions! The high-energy score by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross brims with popular hits and musical theatre standards such as “Hey There,” “Steam Heat” and the hilarious “Hernando’s Hideaway” that will keep you humming all the way home.
