Lesley has long been a Cactus favorite and she is back again to showcase her gorgeous voice and unique personality. October 10….The Texas Tech University School of Music production of “Sound Encounters” -
A musical Homecoming celebration featuring the award winning Goin' Band, Concert Bands, Drumline and special section features. It is an action packed, quick-paced and audience friendly event with various encounters and sounds at every turn. The concert provides support for scholarships for the Texas Tech bands and general admission is $5.00. Students with IDs, senior citizens, and public school groups with chaperones are complimentary. October 10 – 12….The Peddler Show -
For over 30 years, The Peddler Show has offered shoppers a one-of-a-kind custom shopping experience with a vast selection of unique items including personalized designs, home décor, hand crafted jewelry, fashionable clothing, gourmet treats, creative gifts and more. Admission good all weekend: $5 for adults, $3 for seniors 65+, kids under 12 are free. Main Exhibit Hall at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane; Friday from 3 p.m.- 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

October 10-12….Lubbock Community Theatre production of "The Crucible" - An American theatre classic by Arthur Miller, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award. "The Crucible" presents the horrors of the Puritanical witch purges of Old Salem, while also presenting a timely parable of our contemporary society. Directed by Richard Privitt. Rating: Drama PG13. Boston Avenue Playhouse, 4230 Boston Avenue; Friday and Saturdays, 8 p.m. and Sundays, 2 p.m.

October 10-12….LCU Theatre presents "Little Women: The Broadway Musical"
- Based on the beloved novel by Louisa May Alcott, Little Women the Broadway Musical tells the story of Jo March, an aspiring young writer and her three sisters in Concord, Massachusetts during the American Civil War. Through beautiful songs such as “Our Finest Dreams,” “Delighted,” “Here Alone,” and “More Than I Am,” the audience glimpses the struggles and triumphs of the four March sisters as they grow up in the shadow of the war. The challenges they face, such as gender stereotypes, family obligations and personal fulfillment, are as relevant today as when the novel first appeared in 1868. Tickets are $15 for adults; $10 for students/faculty/staff/seniors (includes the Select-a-Seat fee of $2.50). Tickets now available from Select-a-Seat. Friday and Saturday performances at 8:00 p.m.; Sunday matinee offered at 3:00 p.m.

October 11….Big XII College Football (Texas Tech Homecoming) –
Tech will celebrate Homecoming 2008 as the Red Raiders face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Big XII home-opener at Jones AT&T Stadium, 6th Street and Drive of Champions; 2 p.m.

October 11…."The Best Of The Tributes" - Jason's tribute shows have been some of the absolute favorites of the Cactus audiences. Come listen to Jason and his sidekicks Brandon Gwinn, Jeff McCreight, Billy McClaran and the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine present this incredible mix of music of The Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimmy Buffett and The Beach Boys. October 11-12….Apple Country Orchards Pumpkin Fest
- There is no fee to enter, $1 for the hayrides. In addition there will be a petting zoo, green chili roasting, raw honey pouring, a BBQ lunch, lots of pumpkins, squash and gourds, pumpkin decorating and lots of apple picking and fresh apple turnovers. The gift store and bakery are also open. Apple Country Orchards, 4 miles east of Idalou on Hwy. 62/82; 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. both days.

October 11 – 12….Lubbock Lake Landmark Celebration 2008 - Featuring performances by Ray Olachia, Mescalro Apache historian and Eldrena Douma, storyteller in the Laguna and Hopi traditions. Demonstrations include traditional food processing and Native American stone work. Join in activities for all ages including basket weaving, spear throwing, making miniature teepees and more. Admission is free. Lubbock Lake Landmark, 2401 Landmark Dr; Saturday from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.; Sunday from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

October 17, 18, 19, 24 & 25….Hub Theatre Group’s Production of “Night Mother” - Marsha Norman's Pulitzer-Prize winning play, 'Night Mother will star the amazing and talented duo of Jane Prince Jones and Paula Chanda and will be directed by Bob Chanda. October 18…. Dog Day Howloween - Come and celebrate Maxey’s 4th annual themed costume contest for dogs and their owners (if they choose to dress up as well). There will be 4 separate categories: teen/adult (ages 13+); children’s (ages 6-9); older children (ages 10-12); and, fianally, a costumed dog & owner division. Each category will be judged separately with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Dogs must be on a leash at all times and have current vaccinations. October 18….15th Annual Grape Day – The biggest celebration of the grape and it’s harvest on the Texas high plains. Admission charge of $5 includes a Llano commemorative wine glass and tickets good for one glass of wine. Come out and enjoy Llano gourmet food tasting, ice carving, and live music from Kenny Maines, Lesley Sawyer, Billy McClaran, and Brian Maines.
