July 11....Caitlann Wiley’s Tribute to Patsy Cline - The Cactus Theater proudly introduces Caitlann Wiley in her first starring appearance, with a thrilling tribute to Patsy Cline. Caitlann is one of the most promising young talents in West Texas and will amaze you with her renditions of this classic country music. July 11-12.... Lubbock Moonlight Musicals Presents, "The Pirates of Penzance" - Frederic was meant to be an apprentice of a pilot but his maid mistakes her master's wish for a pirate and after many years he discovers the truth. With a special appearance by the police, the show is a rollicking masterpiece of comic mayhem. Tickets are available at the gate and at all Select-a-Seat outlets, by phone at 800-735-1288 or 806-770-2000 or on the web at www.selectaseatlubbock.com. The amphitheatre is an outdoor venue with paved paths, nighttime lighting and grassy terraces. July 11-13...."True West" - Hub Theatre Group is back with a great new production of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard's play, "True West". The play deals with sons of a desert dwelling alcoholic and a suburban wanderer who clash over a film script. Austin, the achiever, is working on a script he has sold to producer Sal Kimmer when Lee, a demented petty thief, drops in. He pitches his own idea for a movie to Kimmer, who then wants Austin to junk his bleak, modern love story and write Lee's trashy Western tale. The play follows the devolving relationship between the brothers and the inevitable result of their dysfunctional past. July 12.... Archaeology Family Day - Visit this year's excavation, talk to the archaeologists and see the special behind-the-scenes work that takes place in the Quaternary Research Center. Loads of activities include doing your own mock dig. July 12...."Picnic With the Minis" - Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and join Hearts and Hooves of Lubbock for a thank you party in appreciation to the community for all the love and support that has been shown. Fun for the whole family including pictures with the minis, hayrides, and feeding Kenny's animals. Hot dogs and barbeque burritos will be available in exchange for a canned item to benefit South Plains Food Bank; Kenny's Corral, 7500 CR and Slide Road, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

July 12....David Gaschen Concert - Broadway performer and Lubbock native David Gaschen will perform at the fourth annual Stars Under The Stars concert to benefit Lubbock's Foundation for Music Education. July 12....Billy Joe Shaver In Concert - This iconic Texas music legend brings his renowned sounds to the historic Cactus Theater. It’s a pretty good bet that Billy Joe...one way or another...has influenced a large majority of every living singer/songwriter cut from Texas cloth. His mile-long list of hits includes "Georgia On A Fast Train", "You Ask Me To", "I'm Just An Old Chunk of Coal", "Live Forever" and dozens more. July 13....Westwinds Brass Band Concert - Old-fashioned concert in the park, with players ranging in age from late teens to early '90s. Performed are a wide variety of songs including patriotic and varied musical selections. Bring your lawn chair and enjoy the performance in the summer evening with your friends. Kids march included. Admission free. Wagner Park, 26th and Flint. 8 p.m.

July 14-18....National Ranching Heritage Center's Summer Youth Classes - This year's theme will focus on the fascinating history of the South Plains. Students will choose from a variety of 12, fun heritage education classes where they can learn about Native American history, cowboy life, pioneer living, western art and the importance of playas as a natural resource. The purpose of the summer youth program is to preserve the history of ranching by providing a unique learning experience for students in grades one through six. Classes meet Monday through Friday for 90 minutes each. Tuition is $25 per class, and Junior Rough Riders members receive a $5 discount on each class. July 15....LFC Singles Party -

July 15-18....Technical Theatre Workshop - Students from this class will have the opportunity to learn technical theatre skills and work on the Musical Theater production of “Aladdin Jr”. For kids ages 10-15 who are interested in what goes on behind the scenes in a theatrical production. There will be a chance to learn stagecraft, lighting, and makeup techniques from instructors After the 4 day workshop is complete, these students will be given the opportunity to be the backstage crew for Aladdin Jr., the musical that will be performed by the Musical Theatre Workshop kids. August 2....Hub City Beach Party - Fundraiser hosted by Foster A life at the Lubbock Beach with activates like the Tiki Island Tourist Trap with Souvenirs, lost shaker of salt with hundreds of prizes valued at thousands of dollars, Bimini game, hula hoop, contests, kid's games, cuckoo for coconuts and crafts for kids. There will also be "Run to the Beach" Motorcycle Run with registration beginning at 11 a.m. at the Buddy Holly Center, $50 per couple and $30 for individual. Ticket includes motorcycle run, tickets to the show, and free food item.The Landsharks Show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show and available at all Select-A-Seat locations.
