Think ping pong played on a scaled-down tennis court...with a lightweight plastic Wiffle ball and paddle. We'll show you how to play...or, if you don't think you want to jump right in, just come and enjoy meeting some new friends and watch the action in your lawn chair. Come on...you'll be glad you checked it out! If you have a "pickle paddle"...bring it...if not, come anyway! Our fun group of folks gather each Thursday evening (now that the weather is warming up) to play on the tennis courts at Leroy Elmore Park, on the east side (Peoria Ave.) north of the Loop 289 frontage road. 7 p.m. to ???

Lew Dee & Diana Celebrate 30 Years, New Frequency at 97.3 FM!

We wanted to help spread the word that our friends and longtime Lubbock radio icons Lew Dee and Diana have moved with the rest of the "Stars" to their new home at 97.3 FM. Formerly located at 104.7, the popular morning drive team have announced that they are entering their 30th year on air together, as well. They want all their loyal listeners to know that the only thing that's changed is the spot on the dial. "Stars" is simply changing radio frequency as of this week. You can catch the two radio icons Monday-Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on traditional radio or listen online from anywhere in the world via internet streaming. You'll hear occasional radio spots for the Lubbock Fun Club on Stars 97.3...along with a NEW FEATURE...our contribution of daily show trivia questions. Congratulations, Lew and Diana...for 30 wonderful years!

A Heartfelt Thanks for the Success of Our First "Kids' Summer Fun Fair"

Last weekend's attendance for our event at the Lubbock Memorial Garden and Arts Center was SIMPLY AMAZING! We appreciate all of our readers who made it to the fair and hope you were pleased with the offering. We worked very hard to produce a memorable and informative experience. We couldn't have done it without all of our wonderful "scheduled" vendors, the assistance of Ann Graves at LISD, the numerous school administrators who helped us get the word out, and a select group of the other media in town. Special thanks to Steak Express for agreeing to be our food vendor at the very last minute...and Jump 'n' Fun for the incredible inflatables! We appreciate the spirit of community we witnessed...and we are proud to have been able to bring this event to the parents and kids of Lubbock. Let's do it again next year!
