February 21....Thursday Night Arts Underground Film Operative Planet Celluloid - LHUCA is celebrating Black History Month with the very first feature film made by an African-America director - Oscar Michaux’s "Within Our Gates" (1920). This historical showing will enlighten and inspire all who attend. Oscar Micheaux directed and wrote this powerful story about racial prejudice and its consequences. February 22....Spaghetti & Bingo Nite - This food, fun, and prizes event will benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital. Tickets are $7.50 for adults and $5.00 for children. February 22...."Tea At Five" - Back by popular demand, Jane Prince-Jones returns in Matthew Lombardo’s intimate biographical production about one of the silver screen’s most unique and enduring personalities, Katharine Hepburn. The play, based on Ms. Hepburn’s book, Me: Stories of My LIfe, takes place at Hepburn’s family home in Connecticut at two distinctive time periods. This two-act, one-woman play, offers an up-close and personal look at the winner of four Oscars and undeniably one of the world’s most admired actresses. February 23....Flippin' to Make a Difference: Lubbock Lions Club 56th Annual Pancake Festival Fundraiser
- A Lubbock tradition of an ‘all you can eat’ menu of light, fluffy pancakes, sausage, orange drink, milk and coffee. Tickets are $4.50 in advance; $5.00 at the door. Dine in a glamorous setting befitting the biggest stars and honoring a local star in our performing arts community as the recipient for the annual William D. Kerns award is feted. A short limousine ride to LHUCA’s main facility will transport you to your very own walk on the red carpet and into a fabulous after-party, where Lubbock’s own version of ‘Joan and Melissa,’ Don Armstead and Elysse West, will announce your arrival to the Red Carpet Event. Event takes place (adjacent to LHUAC center) at The Christine DeVitt Icehouse. Tickets $150/person or $1,200/table for 8; 6:45 p.m.

February 23....Silver Screen Ball Red Carpet Event - Follows the previously listed dinner...at LHUCA’s main facility. Enjoy an arts extravaganza evening in LHUCA’s exhibition spaces and theatre! Dance the night away in the Helen DeVitt Jones Studio Gallery, see two art exhibitions opening for the occasion and enjoy live bands 'The Shock' and ' Cyrus' in our Firehouse Theatre; all while mingling with fellow arts patrons and dining on hors d’oeuvres provided by First Friday Art Trail venues and Lubbock arts organizations. Tickets $25/person; held at Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts, 511 Ave. K.. 8 p.m.

February 28....Lubbock Fun Club Singles (SOS) Bowling Night - Come join our fun-loving singles group (generally the attendeeds are mid-40s plus) for an evening out at the lanes. This wacky but genuine black comedy follows Cass, a disillusioned wife but determined believer in destiny, as she flees to Niagara Falls in a frantic search for the life she fears she missed out on. This hilarious but moving journey of self-discovery has Cass crossing paths with a variety of eccentric characters as she successfully checks items off her ludicrous list of “things to do in life” but still somehow leads her treacherously close to the water’s edge; The Boston Avenue Playhouse, 4230 Boston Avenue, 8 p.m.Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
