January 24....Planet Celluloid Underground Film Operative - Thursday Night Arts at LHUCA.
Artistry of Fritz Lang: M (1931). The first feature for Planet Celluloid features the artistry of Fritz Lang. Presentation will start with a short lecture explaining some of the background and history of the director who turned Hitler down for the post to head the Nazi film propaganda unit. M features the great Peter Lorre as a psychotic child murderer who stalks a city, and despite an exhaustive investigation fueled by public hysteria and outcry, the police have been unable to find him. The criminal underground even attempts to work with police to help apprehend this criminal. M features one of the greatest monologues (by Lorre) in the history of film. 90 minutes. January 25....Playhouse Disney Live! - Celebrate with your Playhouse Disney pals! In this brand new live show, you're invited to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as Mickey plans a spectacular music party for all his friends. The Little Einsteins set off on a musical mission around the world to find a song for the party - with the help of Rocket, of course! Pooh, Tigger and Darby spring into action to search for music in the Hundred Acre Wood, and Handy Manny and his team of tools find the perfect party beat. January 25....Tea At Five - Back by popular demand, the multi-talented Jane Prince-Jones returns in Matthew Lombardo’s intimate biographical production about one of the silver screen’s most unique and enduring personalities, Katharine Hepburn. The play, based on Ms. Hepburn’s book, Me: Stories of My LIfe, takes place at Hepburn’s family home in Connecticut at two distinctive time periods. This two-act, one-woman play, offers an up-close and personal look at the winner of four Oscars and undeniably one of the world’s most admired actresses. January 25-27......"Three for the Road" - An Evening of One-Acts by Juanice Meyers" - Three original plays are "Wings of the Morning," "Beyond Here are Monsters" and "Rainbows in the Snow." January 26....Lubbock Ice Skating School - Classes start January 26 and end February 23. Classes will be on Saturday mornings from 9:00-9:30 with practice ice from 9:30-10:30. Total cost is $100. This includes yearly registration fee, membership in the U.S. Figure Skating's Skate With US program, skate rental and lots of other goodies. Skaters of all skill levels from ages 5 to adult welcome. January 26....Chili Feed - Join friends of the American Museum of Agriculture for a bowl of chili this "chilly" Saturday. Lunch will be served at the museum. Bring your winter coat and a few friends to eat all the chili you can for only $5 per person. East of I-27 at the corner of East Broadway & Canyon Lake Dr. 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

January 26....Texas Tech Lady Raiders vs. Colorado - Women's Big XII college basketball, United Spirit Arena, 1701 Indiana Avenue, 4 p.m.

January 26....Llano Wine Chocolate Fantasia - Make plans for an unforgettable evening of wine and chocolate, hosted by Lubbock Chefs' Association and Llano Estacado Winery. Doug is back in West Texas now, continuing the difficult physical therapy, and shows marked progress toward recovery. Doug and his family need our help on his long, tough journey.
