December 20....Holiday Open House - At the historic Harvey House in Slaton! Come see the Christmas tree, enjoy a hot drink and eat a sweet treat. In Slaton (15 miles southeast of Lubbock off of Hwy 84); building is on the corner of Busines U.S. 84 and Railroad Ave. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.


December 20....Sanders Family Christmas - The Cactus Theatre proudly brings back this wonderful Christmas play after a long absence! Here’s your chance to entertain your holiday guests in high style or treat yourself to a hilarious heartwarming show you’ll never forget! Starring Jane Prince Jones, Kenny Maines, Mike Morgan, Donnie Allison, Cami Caldwell, Tamara Wallace and Brandon Gwinn. December 21....D’Venue - Hosting “Dance for A Wish”. For only $15.00 per person you can come enjoy an Asian buffet, a professional dance show and an evening of dancing. All the proceeds go to the Make-A-Wish foundation of the Texas Plains. December 21....A Cactus Family Christmas Celebration - Start a family tradition with the 13th Annual Cactus Family Christmas Celebration featuring your favorite stars of the Cactus Theatre. Come get into the spirit of the season with a enchanting mixture of music ranging from wonderfully nostalgic Christmas favorites to contemporary Christmas hits. December 21-22....Lazarus - Ragtown Gospel Theater presents a 45-minute concert of Southern gospel music preceding the play. General admission tickets $20 for general public and $10 for children age 12 and younger.For more information call (877)724-8696. Located just outside (west) of the city of Post. Turn off highway 84, look for signs; 7:30 p.m.

December 21-22....Lights at the Haven - Come see the Haven lights and visit our adorable animals! Open House 2007. Be sure to come by our Christmas Village to see the miniature houses, people, animals, trees and train set and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate! Admission is FREE.
Donations are welcome. Items to donate include leashes, collars, blankets, towels, paper towels, monetary gifts to cover vet fees, gift cards. December 22....South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center Open House - Come to our Open House from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Meet our wildlife ambassadors, tour the center and meet the volunteers. $1.00 donation requested. 3308 95th St. (95th and Indiana). December 23....A Cactus Kids Christmas - They say that the spirit of the holiday season resides within the children. This will never be more evident as you listen to these kids sing your Christmas favorites. The students work all fall to prepare the music for this outstanding concert, as it is the yearly highlight, and it is their opportunity to perform with the fantastic Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine, just like the Stars of the Cactus. Don’t miss this jaw-dropping show which features the Cactus Kids, Cactus Kiddos, and Cactus Cuties as they perform your favorite inspiring Christmas songs of the holiday season! Tickets for adults $20, $10 for children 12 and under. Cactus Theatre, 1812 Buddy Holly Ave.; 7:00 p.m.

December 27 - 29....AMBUCS Annual ABC Caprock Basketball Tournament - 49th high school basketball tournament. Hosting 80 teams for 2007. Teams will be bracketed into groups of 16 or 24 teams according to their school’s classification into Division 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Four championships awarded in these respective categories: one for girls and one for boys in the two brackets.

December 31....Early Bird New Year’s Eve Celebration - Ring in the New Year in style! Festive party favors, a special early bird champagne toast and the finest music in West Texas. The stars of the Cactus and the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine bring to stage many of the greatest hits of all time and more fun than you can get anywhere. Special door prizes and more! Tickets $40; Cactus Theatre, 1812 Buddy Holly Ave; 8:00 p.m.
