November 1st....SOS Singles Group - Private dinner at Red Carpet Restaurant (1220 Main). Cost: $15 per person plus tip. For this special private event, reservations are a MUST! FRIDAY

November 2....First Friday Art Trail - Galleries, studios, businesses and restaurants of downtown Lubbock and beyond will join together and open their doors for Lubbock’s monthly evening of art, music and food. Showcases fabulous works of art, much of which is created locally in the unique and inspiring galleries, studios, businesses and restaurants of downtown Lubbock and throughout our city. From the Depot District to the Civic Center District to Texas Tech University and beyond, art “trailers” can easily follow the trail on their own with maps provided at each location, or hop aboard the First Friday trolleys. The four roving trolleys will each provide short routes in the downtown area only. Catch the trolleys at any of your favorite downtown locations, and find ample parking and numerous trolleys at Hard Tops Gallery. Event is free and open to the public and many of the venues serve refreshments. Hours are 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. Complete list of participating venues, trolley routes and more.

November 2-4....Carousel - A story of love, death, and redemption, all with beautiful music including “If I Loved You”, and “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” Music by Richard Rodgers, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II; directed by John A. Packard.
Adults $20; Senior/Student $15. Staged at 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2:00 p.m. at the Firehouse Theater at the Underwood Center, 511 Ave. K. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 749-2416.


SATURDAY

November 3....stARTS Visual and Performing Arts Classes for students in grades K-6th and their parent or adult mentor. Registration at 9:30 a.m. Classes begin at 10:00 a.m. Classes include the following: Salsa 101 with Salsa King Don Armstead. Textile Design with artist Hafeezah Abuljami. November 3...Golden Spur Lunch at National Ranching Heritage Center - Featuring cowboy poet and entertainer Red Steagall. The Annual Fajita Lunch will kick off at noon as part of the Golden Spur activities. For more than 35 years, Steagall has entertained around the globe as a recording artist, songwriter, TV and motion picture personality and cowboy poet. In 2006, he was named as Poet Laureate of Texas. Steagall’s love for the great Western heritage and the cowboy way of life have made his one-hour syndicated radio show, “Cowboy Corner,” a hit throughout the country. The winner of five Wrangler Awards from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, he was inducted in 2003 into the organization’s Hall of Great Westerners. November 3...Lubbock Fun Club Family Fun Day at The Maize - Print out this postcard (which includes the coupon below) and present it for half off at the gate. Note: Coupon below good for this Saturday only....so make plans to make it out to Shallowater with the coupon in hand. Hours on Saturday are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

From 4th and Frankford:

Go 7 miles north on Frankford (FM 2528) to FM 1294.
Turn left on FM 1294 and go 3/4 of a mile

From I-27:
Take Shallowater Exit and go 6.5 miles WEST on FM 1294.

November 8....Make-A-Wish Home Giveaway - Takes place 6:00 p.m., 6104 75th Place, Lubbock.

November 8...."Fashion Crosses the Frontier: 1780s to 1930s" will be presented at the National Ranching Heritage Center as part of the annual Lady's Day Out luncheon series. Reservations are required. Seating is limited to the first 150 to respond. Contact Whitney Barron at (806) 742-2498 or order tickets online. $20 per person/tickets or $250 for a table for eight by reservation. Individual tickets or table for eight. RSVP by Nov. 1.

November 10....AMBUCS Vegas Night - Games include Texas Hold'em tournament. Grand Prize – TBA; second and third place prizes will be awarded. Tournament begins promptly at 8:00 p.m. Tournament players must present 5,000 chips value to participate. Limited to first 63 players registered at the door. Texas Tech vs. UT game will be on big screen TV (if televised).

November 10-11....11th Annual Take in the Local Color! Artist Studio Tour - This yearly event gives audiences the unique opportunity to observe artists in their working environments, many of which are in private homes. All fifty participating artists are from Lubbock County and all nine studios are located in Lubbock.


November 14 - 18....Holiday Happening – The Junior League of Lubbock presents its 28th annual event. This year's theme is A Festive Beginning, Two shopping areas will be featured: the Reindeer Room and Santa’s Workshop. More than 150 merchants and exhibitors from across the country will exhibit.
