First Friday Art Trail is this FRIDAY!
There are seventeen places that you can see art this Friday evening from 6 to 9 and open houses all around enable you to explore the arts firsthand. You can get a map anywhere ... but we recommend these places to start on your trail:

FAUX REAL ART AND DESIGN STUDIO, 7212 19th Street, (19th and Upland) has the artwork of two local art teachers, Christy Castleberry and Jan Pate. Castleberry’s work will include clay, wire and beadwork and Pate’s work includes ceramics and mosaics that use found objects. There will also be live music and a RECIPE TASTING from a recipe in the ever-popular "Always Enough Thyme" cookbook. Great place for families too. 806.771.2787 more>

EDIBLEMETAL GALLERY, 2701 North Frankford Ave., Studio #1, Ediblemetal Studio's, 2701 North Frankford Ave., will be featuring two Hearts for the Arts works in progress by Charise Knudson, Kate Williams and Laura Lewis. Other works by these artists will also be on display. Extended hours until midnight! 806.747.0600

L’OISEAU (le-wah-zô), 1113 University is NEW as a September temporary venue that will present a trunk show of artist Sue Anne Rische’s hand-made jewelry in semi-precious and precious metals and stones.

Welcome Tech Parents
You raise them, feed and clothe them, give them your values and then send them off to college! For many parents, that is Texas Tech University. We want to be of service to you and allow you to be informed of what is going on in our community where they live! For many of you, this will be your FIRST FUN CLUB Postcard! May I say welcome! On behalf of the Fun Club and Lubbock who works hard to help you and your students enjoy living here!

SINGLES will meet for their MONTHLY DINNER OUT at Orlando's on Indiana September 7
at 7:00 p.m. It's easy ... just show up and they will be together. Ask the hostess where and she will know!

COWBOY SYMPOSIUM tickets
Many of you have been asking about Cowboy Symposium tickets. This year, it's a little bit different. Tickets can be purchased at the door beginning Thursday for the events at the Civic Center. Prior to this, they have been for sale through the mail but that ends today. Click here to visit their site.

September 9 - Fall Arts and Crafts Festival at the Garden and Arts Center.

September 9 - Drake Design Photography is hosting "Lights, Camera, Fashion" - a fundraising event for Covenant Children's Hospital. The event will be from 6-9 pm and a fashion show presented by J.Hoffman, T.C. Elli's and Kristi's will begin at 7pm. Tickets will be sold at the entrance to the event and the event will be held at Drake Design Photography studio in their Portrait Park. It will be a family evening event.

September 9 and 10 - Saturday launch AND Sunday launch of hot air balloons at the Annual South Plains Balloon Roundup.

September 15 & 16 – Lubbock Music Festival features Friday evening street concert with with Chubby Checker, “The King of the Twist” (cost is $5), full day of music with over 50 bands, Saturday evening street concert (cost is $5) with headliner and Texas Troubadour Pat Green.

September 16 - 2nd Annual Stubb's Tailgate Party at Stubb's Memorial, 108 East Broadway, 5:00PM-7:00PM, BBQ & Live – Music, 744-2787

September 16 through November 25 - THE MAIZE OPENS!!! Plan now on
visiting the Maize where “getting lost” is great outdoor family fun!
