First Friday Art Trail will be on Friday, July 7
First Friday Art Trail is a collective effort throughout Lubbock to encourage people to GET OUT and explore and enjoy the arts. There are several locations -- galleries and stores -- that have an open house the First Friday of every month - inviting you to come enjoy! Most are open from 6 to 9. You can start anywhere in the trail, get a map, and continue on to other points. Here are two of the 17 points along the way ... and make a great place to start the trail:
-- Buddy Holly Center - 1801 Avenue G - start downtown and work your way out
-- FauxReal Art & Design Studio - 7212 19th Street (at Upland) - start on the edge and work your way in. Either way ... it's fun! And it's good for the soul to explore art. Just do it! FauxReal is featuring unbelievable ANIMAL ART and handmade glass Martini Glasses and Margarita Glasses. Art in a Glass is a company we will continue to promote and their "petitte" glasses also make wonderful wedding presents.

Did your Monitor Calendar end June 30?
I don't know about you ... but I've developed such a habit of look at the bottom of my monitor for a date ... that when the calendar runs out, I miss it.
Well, good news! Here is a link to your new calendar ...
and we're going to try something and see if it works.

Plus, it gives you the opportunity to share with friends and spread the news about the Fun Club. Don't worry, we'll have plenty at the Family Fun Festival to hand out on July 29 ... but who wants to wait a month for a good calendar? Enjoy.

Singles are having fun at SOS outings!
If you're single (or know someone who is) ... here are some neat things the SOS group is doing:
-- On Thursdays, they meet at Leroy Elmore Park to play pickleball! It's easy and fun. Last week a dozen folks came!
-- Each month, they go out to dinner together somewhere. This month, on July 20, they will go to Don Pablo's together at 7:00 p.m. (4625 50th)

A Neat (and true) July 4 Airplane Story
My Mother was traveling to Lubbock from Atlanta on July 2. She took her seat and noticed three military men sitting together a few rows up. The plane took off and after the seat belt sign went off, three other businessmen came out of the First Class section and began talking to the military men. In short, they had asked the three men to please take their seats in First Class and they would switch and take their seats in coach. This was their way of saying thank you for the service they provide to our country. Everyone applauded as the military men disappeared into First Class. Isn't that a nice example of gratitude? The 4th of July weekend seemed like very nice timing!

Theater Acting Classes & Musical Theater Workshop
The Lubbock Community Theater offers acting classes each summer for a week and that week is July 10 - 15.
Acting Classes:
Kids ages 7 to 12 ... Monday through Friday ... 9 a.m. to 12 noon.
Kids ages 13 - 18 ... Monday through Friday ... 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Musical Theater Workshop is the same week
Ages 10 - 15 ... Monday through Friday ... 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Dress Rehearsal and Performance Saturday, July 16.
