June 8….Americana! Phoebe Hunt and The Gatherers in Concert – An accomplished Americana instrumentalist with foundations in jazz and swing music, Phoebe makes an impressive creative leap with "Shanti’s Shadow", her new album.. It’s the culmination of a five year journey that has taken her from her Austin roots through Music Row, Brooklyn, and even to India to study with seventh-generation master violinist Kala Ramnath. Along the way, Phoebe found her voice and delivered her most inspired set of songs to date -- the soundtrack to her self-discovery. "Shanti’s Shadow" marks an arrival for Phoebe Hunt, whose artistic and personal journeys have deep story lines. These masterfully crafted songs are brought to life by the musicians Phoebe has gathered, each a virtuoso in their own right. Currently, The Gatherers are: Roy Williams (guitar), Dominick Leslie (mandolin), Sam Reider (piano/accordion), Nick Falk (drums) and Jared Engel/Dave Speranza (upright bass). The album, "Shanti’s Shadow" is garnished with additional guests who are dear to Phoebe’s heart: Stephanie Hunt and Jazz Mills - vocal harmonies, Alex Hargreaves and Nathaniel Smith - strings. Each of these musicians is a leader in their own right and have won awards and toured the world with some of the best musicians on the planet. Tickets priced at $14 and $18. June 10….The Life and Art of Paul Cézanne with Christian Conrad - Paul Cézanne (1839-1906): An artist whose work many historians consider as the beginning of modern art, Paul Cézanne redefined how compositions are structured in painting. His work in both still life and landscape radically shifted away from simple representation of a scene into a complex construction. Bridging the gap between the areas of Impressionism and Post Impressionism, Cézanne’s painting style would anticipate the Cubist revolution that would occur at the beginning of the twentieth century. Although Cézanne was associated with several art movements, he worked in near isolation, painting scenes close to his home in Provence, France. Saturday Lectures at LHUCA is an informal conversation over the life and work of contemporary artists. It’s a stress-free opportunity to examine the art and ideas that underlie much of the modern art world. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and join the conversation. This event is free to the public. Join us for coffee and donuts! LHUCA, 511 Ave K; 11:30 – 1 p.m.

- Enjoy a glass of Llano Estacado’s wine for this fabulous festival filled with art and good wine. More than 40 artists from Texas will exhibit their works inside the winery, nestled between barrels and vats of wine. There also will be artist demonstrations. The Clay Guild’s partnership with the winery is perfect, in that they are celebrating two earth arts, wine-making and ceramics. Pottery and wine serve as the two earliest forms of creativity since the beginning of recorded time. Although the focus is on ceramics, there also will be painting, glass art, jewelry and artisan breads and cheeses. The event also will include food trucks and a silent auction benefiting a scholarship fund. Kenny Maines and “friends” will provide live music from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
