December 16 - 17 (Repeats Dec. 23)….Cactus Family Christmas Celebration - Continuing in the longstanding Cactus Theater tradition, we are proud to once again present the "Cactus Family Christmas Celebration" concerts in 2016. Join your favorite Cactus performers for a nostalgic night of music and heartfelt Christmas joy as new memories are made in this most wonderful time of the year. Join hosts Kurt Kiser and Amber Pennington along with many of your Cactus favorites - inlcuding Bethany Longoria, Jason Fellers, Baby Jade, Jeff Bailey, Addie Bleu, Haley Simpson, Avery Guyear, Ryan Garza and more surprise guests - as they're backed by the rock solid Rhythm Machine. These special concerts are always highly-anticipated by the community, so get your tickets early so you don't miss the magic and fun that awaits! Reserved floor and standard balcony tickets are $25. December 16 - 24...Santa's Land Drive Thru Park - The park includes four acres of land, thousands of lights, 100 plus wooden cut outs, blow-ups, tons of Christmas trees, and decorated antique cars. Visitors are able to stay inside their cars or get out and mingle while enjoying a warm fire, hot chocolate, cookie and a visit with Santa. Train will be at Santa's Land Drive thru Park on November 24. 25 & 26 from 6:30-8:30. (Opening Weekend) Lights will be on the 25th in honor of Frances Chancy's & Jesus's birthday. Admission is free, donations will be accepted to help keep the lights on. We would love to invite you to stop by and see the lights and Santa (please bring your camera). If Santa is present he departs at 9 p.m. Santa's Land Drive-Thru Christmas Park is located in Tahoka, Tx (30 miles south of Lubbock). December 17….City of Lubbock Cemetery to Host Ceremony on National Wreaths Across America Day - The Historic City of Lubbock Cemetery will host a wreath-laying ceremony, joining more than 1,000 other locations across the country for National Wreaths Across America Day. Coordinated and led by local volunteers, 296 wreaths will be placed on the headstones of our fallen service members. There are 2,000+ veterans interred at the City of Lubbock Cemetery. This annual event seeks to further the WAA mission of Remember, Honor and Teach. Opening remarks will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 and the official start time, which will coincide with the National Wreaths Across America event will begin at 11:00 a.m. A Color Guard will present our nation’s colors and the national anthem will be performed. Comments from the local Civil Air Patrol commander, Capt Jim Preidis will also be delivered. Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. The tradition was started by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization's mission - Remember, Honor, Teach - is carried out each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington National Cemetery and numerous cemeteries throughout the United States. The Lubbock squadron of the Civil Air Patrol is a non-profit organization that is an auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The squadron has been located in Lubbock, Texas since 1972. If you have never seen a Cactus Kids Christmas Concert, you are in for a real treat! This is not just your average kids show - these are the BEST OF THE BEST from the Terri Caldwell Music program. Kids from this program have appeared on national television programs such as “America's Got Talent” and “X Factor.” You will be blown away by the talent as they are backed by our own stellar house band - The Rhythm Machine - in this full-blown, professional show! December 20….Senior Link Magazine presents: Christmas at the Cactus - Senior Link Magazine presents a special matinee event especially for grandparents and their grandkids to enjoy a special afternoon together at the Cactus Theater. There will be live MUSIC, HUMOR, DOOR PRIZES and FAMILY FUN! Musical performers include Tom and Sherry Green and select students from Caldwell Kids Entertainment. Speakers include Jody Boudreaux Wilson and Jess Peterson. Tickets only $10 - and this special price INCLUDES small popcorn and drink, too! December 2 – 31….5th Annual Overton Hotel Gingerbread House - For the 5th consecutive year, The Overton Hotel has built another spectacular Gingerbread House in an effort to collect donations for the Texas Boys Ranch this holiday season. The house is available for anyone to view through December 31st. Donations to the Texas Boys Ranch can be made at the Overton Hotel’s main desk by purchasing either a $5 Decoration or a $100 Corporate Sponsorship. Additional donations can be made through purchases at Pecan Grill. Overton Hotel, 2322 Mac Davis Lane.

December 10 - 23….Santa Land - Lubbock Parks and Recreation has hosted Santa Land for two weeks in December for over 50 years! Between 38,000 to 41,000 people visit Santa Land each year to see the festive holiday village with its huge lighted Christmas tree, animated displays, bonfires, holiday scenes, and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus! Concessions available. Admission to this family classic is free! Mackenzie Park - use the East Broadway entrance just east of Avenue A and the South Plains fairgrounds; 6-10 p.m. nightly.
