May 26….2016 Summer Showcase Series - The Buddy Holly Center is gearing up for another summer of music and fun with the 2016 Summer Showcase Concert Series. To kick off the series, local group Element will be playing their special brand of R&B/Funk. Summer Showcase 2016 is free to the public. There will be a cash bar, food and beverages available for purchase. Please, no outside beverages are allowed. Performances are every Thursday evening from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm in the Meadows Courtyard, 1810 Crickets Avenue.

SATURDAY Only

May 28….Military Appreciation Day-West Texas Salute to Veterans - Veterans and Military personnel and their families will enjoy entertainment, kid’s activities, lunch and a Veterans Resource Fair. For information, call 775-2685. Admission is free. Fiesta Plaza, Buddy Holly Recreation Area, off of North University on Cesar Chavez Drive. 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

May 28….A Tribute to Michael Jackson / James Brown / Prince - From the towering presence of Michael Jackson - to the Godfather of Soul - to the recently departed Purple One - this tribute showcases the greatest songs from three of the most influencial and admired artists of all time. Summer Camps Naturally Mean...Summer Fun!


LUBBOCK PARKS AND RECREATION SUMMER CAMPS
Come for a week or the whole summer! Your kids will never be bored at any of Parks and Recreation’s five summer day camps with our weekly themes, field trips, swimming and outdoor activities. Register in person at our camp locations during open hours. Camps begin on Tuesday, May 31 and will run through Friday, August 19. Camp times are Monday-Friday from 7:30 am-5:30 pm. Pricing for all camps is $85 per week. For families that income qualify, the scholarship rate per week is $42.50. Weekly fees include field trips, swimming and snacks. Parents should register in person at least one week in advance and will be required to pay the first week’s camp fee and a one-time registration fee at the time of registration. In order to determine eligibility for the scholarship rate, applicants must be able to provide information on all sources of income. Space is limited, so register early.
