November 27-29 (Repeats Dec. 3-6, 9-13, 15-23, 26)….The Polar Express - The Polar Express™ returns to the West Texas & Lubbock Railway, recreated to match all the sights and sounds of the beloved story. Picture the excitement of children dressed in pajamas with golden tickets clutched in their hands as they board the train and prepare to embark on their journey to the North Pole. The story begins when the Conductors calls “All aboard” and punches children’s golden tickets. Little faces will peer out the train’s windows as we pull out of the station on our way to the North Pole. Each guests will hear the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack as the story reading begins and the book’s characters come to life. Dancing chefs will serve hot cocoa and cookies to all riders in a merry fashion as the doubting hobo wanders through the train. The train stops where children will behold the magic of the North Pole from their warm train seats. With a jolly “Ho, ho, ho” Santa waves to everyone and climbs aboard where he will greet each child and present them with the iconic silver sleigh bell (only believers can hear its ringing). Christmas carols will be sung as we return back to the station after a memorable ride that sets the tone for the whole holiday season. (Repeats Friday/Saturday/Sunday thru December 20)….Olde Christmas Towne - Christmas town is an exciting new miniature theme park established to bring the magic of Christmas to West Texas. This park celebrates the traditions of Christmas in new and old ways. There will be entertainment all throughout Olde Christmas Town, starting with the trail of lights. The Elves workshop, the Christmas Village, the Christmas Court, The North Pole, the nativity scene and candyland will all play a part in this experience. Olde Christmas Towne will run from November 27th to December 20th, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. The park will be open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets will be $20 for adults and $10 for children. The tickets will be available for purchase online and at the gate. November 28, 29…..Lubbock Moonlight Musicals presents “Beauty and the Beast” - “Be our guest” for Lubbock Moonlight Musicals’ newest Moonlight Broadway production, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Featuring music from the immortal Disney film, as well as many new songs, Beauty and the Beast tells a “tale as old as time” of young provincial woman, Belle, and her search to find the love she has only glimpsed amongst pages of her beloved books. Similarly searching, though for vastly different reasons, a spell-bound young prince, now only known as the Beast, must learn the true meanings of love before time runs out and the last petal falls. After more than 5,000 performances on Broadway, vast numbers of international productions, and many tours; Lubbock Moonlight Musicals is very proud to locally produce a professional, Moonlight Broadway presentation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Following previous Moonlight Broadway productions of Les Misérables in November 2013, CATS in November 2014, and Mary Poppins in May of 2015; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will enchant audiences of all ages. Once again, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals will coordinate this production to coincide with the Junior League of Lubbock’s annual Holiday Happening at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. December 1….Overton Hotel to Unveil Lubbock’s Largest Gingerbread House - For the 4th consecutive year, The Overton Hotel is building arguably Lubbock’s Largest Gingerbread House in an effort to collect donations for the Texas Boys Ranch this holiday season. There will be an official “unveiling” on Tuesday, December 1st at 2 p.m. in the Overton Hotel Lobby. The house is available for anyone to view between December 1st and December 31st. Donations to the Texas Boys Ranch can be made at the Overton Hotel’s main desk by purchasing either a $5 Train Decoration or a $100 Corporate Sponsorship. Additional donations can be made by purchasing specialty desserts and beverages at the Pecan Grill. This year’s design is a train station 3/12 feet tall and 8 feet wide. It is a custom design with over 5,000 pieces of gingerbread complete with windows, lighting and sound. Our Executive Chef Doug Noxon and Executive Sous Chef Monty Hinton started the design back in September and the Overton team spent about 200 hours completing the design.

December 1….57th Annual Carol of Lights

With the flip of a switch, more than 25,000 colored lights will illuminate 18 buildings around Memorial Circle, the Engineering Key and the Broadway Entrance to the campus during Texas Tech University's Carol of Lights. The Ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a Carillon Concert. At 7 p.m., the Masked Rider and Horse, Saddle Tramps Torch Light Processional and High Riders will begin at the University Seal at the Broadway Entrance and follow the luminaria lighted route around Memorial Circle to the Science Quadrangle. The Tech Trombone Choir, under the direction of Jim Decker, will accompany the Texas Tech University Combined Choirs. The University Police Department will close off vehicle access to Memorial Circle and the Broadway Entrance for the ceremony Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. The lights will be turned on every night from dusk until midnight from December 2, 2015 through January 1, 2016.
