August 14-15 (Repeats August 21-22)….Moonlight Musicals ”Oklahoma" - Come out to the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre (previously the Wells Fargo Amphitheatre) in the beautiful outdoor setting of Lubbock’s Mackenzie Park this August as Lubbock Moonlight Musicals presents their 10th anniversary production of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” Music by Richard Rodgers. Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. Making use of Texas Tech and local talent, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals always strives to create high quality, family-friendly entertainment that all ages may enjoy. “Oklahoma!” is a musical masterpiece not to be missed! Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today. Set in a Western Indian Territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love’s journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant OKLAHOMA! Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “OKLAHOMA!” is based on the play “Green Grow the Lilacs” by Lynn Riggs. Original Dances by Agnes de Mille. Picnic suppers welcome, though our newly expanded concession building will be open immediately prior to and during the shows. Tickets are now available through Select-A-Seat by calling 806.770.2000, online at, at all Select-A-Seat locations, and at the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre box office immediately prior to shows. Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre, 413 East Broadway; Gates open at 7 p.m.; show begins at 8 p.m.

After the Star Walk, the public is invited to view these various dark-sky objects through the park’s binoculars and telescopes with the help of knowledgeable Sky Guide volunteers, who come from throughout Texas and Oklahoma to assist with the StarWalk program through the generous use of their own equipment.
