June 25….Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase Concert Series - The BHC is gearing up for another hot summer of music and fun. This week's featured act is Touch of Soul, playing classic R&B and soul music. Performances are every Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Meadows Courtyard. June 25….Junior’s Listening Room – Music meets wine every Thursday as Junior Vasquez hosts an intimate music experience at Cap*Rock Winery, bringing out some of Lubbock’s talented artists. There will be and local food trucks serving from 6 p.m. onward. Cap*Rock will offer half-off bottles and various cocktails. Guests this week are Mark Wallney and Lori Sealy. June 25….Cactus Theater presents Gary P. Nunn - Gary P. Nunn has been TAKING TEXAS TO THE COUNTRY and Texas country to the world for some 40 years now, establishing himself as an icon of Lone Star Music. A founding father of the progressive country movement out of Austin in the 1970s that changed the face of popular music, Nunn is also and independent music pioneer who continues to oversee his own record label and song publishing companies, manage his own career (with the help of his wife Ruth), and plays most every weekend at top music venues throughout Texas and beyond. June 25, 26, 27….Critterfest ’15 - Lubbock’s most popular annual animal event is back again this June. No where else in town can you see tigers, elephants, alligators, crocodiles, zebras, camels, a kangaroo, giant tortoises, big snakes, and tons of other cool animals as the Science Spectrum literally turns into a Zoo for four days. Awesome and amazing animal acts, as well as the extremely popular petting zoo, pony rides and cow milking demonstrations, along with many of other animals on display continue to make this event a hit for the whole family! Two exciting shows will be featured at this year’s CritterFest. The Big Cat Tiger Show and Crocodile Encounters will headline the always popular animal entertainment. The Big Cat Tiger Show is a returning act from several years ago that features a variety of tigers including a rare white tiger. This show will not only astound you with the cat’s intelligence, but teach important lessons about conserving the World’s endangered species. Crocodile Encounters is an educational reptile show that will introduce you to live American Alligators and Nile Crocodiles in order to educate the public about conserving these often misunderstood animals.

Your ticket to CritterFest not only includes viewing of all the amazing animals on display and getting up close and personal seating to all of the exciting shows, but even includes regular Museum admission. The Science Spectrum Museum is home to Lubbock’s only public Aquarium Exhibition, Texas Alive: the Brazos River Journey!, a 6000 square foot permanent exhibit with both fresh and saltwater fish and other native Texas animals. Tickets for CritterFest ‘15 can only be purchased at the door each day of the event. Box office opens at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

June 26 - 27….Shrek, The Musical - Lubbock Moonlight Musicals and Lubbock National Bank present "Shrek, The Musical" in the stunning outdoor setting of the Moonlight Musicals Amphitheatre (formerly the Wells Fargo Amphitheatre) in Lubbock's Mackenzie Park. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, "Shrek, The Musical" brings all the beloved film characters you know to life on stage, and tells the tale of an unusual hero who finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking Donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a gingerbread man with an attitude, and many other fairy tale misfits, and you've got a musical like none you've ever seen! June 27(Repeats July 11; 18)….Beauty & The Beast Jr. - "Be our guest" for this enchanted musical tale as Lubbock Moonlight Musicals debuts its newest outreach: Moonlight Children's Theatre -a theatrical production group supported entirely by members of their youth performance ensemble, Moonlight Directions! Based on Lubbock Moonlight Musicals' love for education and family-fun, this production shall provide additional performance practice for Moonlight Directions and an entertaining experience for all guests! June 27....The Roundtable presents David Weaver, Executive Director of South Plains Food Bank - Our luncheons are held at Hillcrest Country Club 4011 N Boston Ave, Lubbock. North on University past State Living Facility to Newcomb, left for about 4 blocks and you will come to the entrance of the Hillcrest Country Club at Boston and Newcomb. We meet from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with registration and meal selection at 11 along with networking so we are ready to begin the meeting at 11:30. Public is invited. $15 fee per person to cover cost of meal. Limited menu includes beverage and dessert. There are no membership fees or dues. Any extra proceeds goes to the Dudley E. Faver/Adolph Hanslik endowed scholarship to benefit TTU Honors College students. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an hour of fun music-- maybe even a picnic supper! Concerts are sponsored by the Tech Terrace Neighborhood Association.
