June 11….Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase Concert Series
- The BHC is gearing up for another hot summer of music and fun. This week's featured act is Wendy Colonna performing roots rock. Performances are every Thursday evening from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in the Meadows Courtyard. Summer Showcase is FREE to the public. June 11….Junior’s Listening Room
– Music meets wine every Thursday as Junior Vasquez hosts an intimate music experience at Cap*Rock Winery, bringing out some of Lubbock’s talented artists. There will be and local food trucks serving from 6 p.m. onward. Cap*Rock will offer half-off bottles and various cocktails. Guest host this week. June 11….Cactus Theater Presents Bleu Edmonson - Bleu Edmonson knows how to crank up the amps and throw down hard. Successful Long Island businessman Joe Benjamin is a modern-day 'Job' with a demanding wife, ungrateful children and wise-cracking household employees. Just when it seems things couldn't get any worse, he is visited by Sidney Lipton, a.k.a. A Messenger from God (and compulsive film buff) with a mission: test Joe's faith and report back to "the Boss". The jokes and tests of faith fly fast and furious as Neil Simon spins a contemporary morality tale like no other in this hilarious comedy. June 13….1st Annual West Texas Salute to Veterans - Please join the City of Lubbock Veterans Advisory Committee as we express our appreciation to our local area military and veterans with a day of activities, food, and entertainment in honor of their service to our nation. Our goal is to provide this day of recognition and fellowship, free-of-charge, for our military service members, veterans, and their families as we show our gratitude for their role in protecting our many freedoms and way of life. The event will include a veteran resource and information fair, lunch, activities for children to include the Bodyworks Spider Climb and face painting, as well as musical entertainment compliments of 105.7 King FM and Don Caldwell Entertainment. June 13….Vendor Market - United We Art, Lion & Owl, ReUse It Thrift Store & Se7en Glassworks have partnered together to host the first of an ongoing series of Vendor Markets. Unlike most major cities, Downtown Lubbock is a veritable ghost town after the clock strikes 5 p.m. It is the goal of the Vendor Market to support/awaken the Lubbock Downtown Community and to spread the mission of United We Art. The fair will host a unique retail experience while also giving Lubbockites a reason to return to the often neglected area of town. The event will feature a number of local artists, crafters, food vendors, and business owners from the Lubbock area. It will give local vendors an opportunity to highlight their creations while at the same time introducing Lubbock to the downtown culture that could be. Future Vendor Markets will be held monthly in and around the United We Art flagship store and are open to vendors throughout the Lubbock Area. June 13....The Roundtable presents Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe talking on Public Safety and Policing in Lubbock Today - Our luncheons are held at Hillcrest Country Club 4011 N Boston Ave, Lubbock. North on University past State Living Facility to Newcomb, left for about 4 blocks and you will come to the entrance of the Hillcrest Country Club at Boston and
Newcomb. We meet from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with registration and meal selection at 11 along with networking so we are ready to begin the meeting at 11:30. Public is invited. $15 fee per person to cover cost of meal.. Limited menu includes beverage and dessert. There are no membership fees or dues. Any extra proceeds goes to the Dudley E. Faver/Adolph Hanslik endowed scholarship to benefit TTU Honors College students. June 13….6th Annual Butterfly Release - Come join the Arboretum, GAC, & Hodges in the gardens behind the GAC for an evening of arts and crafts, refreshments and entertainment. June 13….Sounds of West Texas - The concert will feature local talent performing classic country, pop nostalgia, classic rock, and rhythm & blues and patriotic music. This will be a night of "Hit Songs" plus there will be a very moving tribute to our military! Come and enjoy an old fashioned Concert In the Park, performed by the Westwinds Brass Band. Traditional brass band music, marches, overtures, outstanding soloists, and our traditional favorite...the kid's march. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an hour of fun music-- maybe even a picnic supper! Concerts are sponsored by the Tech Terrace Neighborhood Association. Hey Cookie Connoisseurs and future Bakers! Cookies by Design is hosting our annual summer one-day long Teen COOKIE CAMP! For teens age 13-18....cost $75.00, 10am-5pm, lunch and snack provided! You will learn everything about making and decorating cookies...even design and create your own unique cookie bouquet! You’ll also get a camp apron and chef hat! We will host teen camp any Tuesday or Thursday throughout the summer as long as we have at least 3-4 participants per day. You choose when it will fit your schedule but we need at least two days notice to hold a camp session. Call 794-6992 for more information or stop by 3310-82nd street to pick up a form. Photography Camps for Both Kids and Adults....

Savant Photographic Artistry will be hosting a Kid’s Photography Summer Camp and Photography Boot Camp for adults. The kid’s camp will cover the basics of using a digital camera, framing, composition, and lighting and is June 22nd-26th. We will also have an afternoon session about making a video on a mobile device. This will cover finding great content and editing with the Magisto app. This will be a great camp for 2nd-6th graders looking to get started in photography.

The adult’s camp will also cover the basics of using a digital camera, going into more technical aspects as the week progresses and it is July 6th-10th. It will also have an afternoon session about uploading image files onto a computer and organizing them so they are easy to find and use. This will also go into getting files from a mobile device onto a computer. This camp is geared to those who are interested in better capturing family moments and keeping those moments organized.
