March 13….New Neighbors Luncheon - Graphic designer and mixed media artist Pat Maines will speak at the New Neighbors Club Luncheon. Pat is well known for her logo designs for such entities as Buddy Holly Center, Ballet Lubbock, Bernia Sewing Studio and others. Also, she is responsible for all print matter for the TTU Lecture & Performance Series. In her presentation, she will introduce over 100 1” to one foot scale dwellings along with the treasures with which she puts them together. You do not need to be new to Lubbock or a member to attend this event. Cost for the Luncheon is $14 and reservations are required. March 13….Precious Memories: A Night of Celebration at the Cactus Theater
- In 2014, we presented four spirit filled concerts featuring Christian music ranging from your favorite hymns, country gospel, the music of Bill Gaither, and other wonderful Christian artists who had touring ministries in the 70's and 80's. We even threw in some Bluegrass gospel!! From toe tapping, hand clapping, old fashioned praise music, to the beautiful inspirational music provided by some of the most popular Christian writers of all time. This concert will cover it all! March 13....Historic Granada of Plainview presents: Nashville Songwriter Bernie Nelson with special guest Steve Burrus

Are you a fan of honest-to-goodness, traditional country music? Two of the most sincere country artists take the stage in a unique concert featuring two of the most legitimate country singers you will hear today - to further benefit restoration of the theatre and to launch Bernie Nelson on his nationwide tour in support of his independent album release "Blue". The writer behind dozens of familiar songs and a veteran of the Nashville music industry, Nelson is joined by South Plains favorite Steve Burrus, a powerhouse baritone singer and veteran of the Branson scene. As an added bonus, portions of this concert will be filmed for a national music video to promote the song "Plainview". Glenn Robertson, City Mayor, State of the City Message - Our luncheons are held at Hillcrest Country Club 4011 N Boston Ave, Lubbock. North on University past State Supported Living Facility to Newcomb, left for about 4 blocks and you will come to the entrance of the Country Club at Boston and Newcomb. We meet from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with registration and meal selection at 11 along with networking so we are ready to begin the meeting at 11:30. There are no membership fees or dues. Attendees each pay $15.00. Any extra proceeds goes to the Dudley E. Faver/Adolph Hanslik endowed scholarship to benefit TTU Honors College students. Our Saturday luncheons are a great way to (1) learn more about global/US/Texas/Lubbock issues and events, (2) meet other people in area who may become lifetime friends (3) feel more at home in Lubbock. Most wear business or business-casual attire. No RSVP necessary. March 14….Night Hike -
Experience the nocturnal nature of Yellowhouse Draw and tour the night sky at our "Landmark After Dark" night hike. Night hikes begin at dusk, 30 minutes before the official time of sunset. Tonight, sunset is at 7:54 p.m., so we will begin at 7:24 p.m. Be sure to wear comfortable, sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Night hikes are always held, weather permitting. March 14…. Ray Wylie Hubbard at the Cactus Theater -
The legendary Austin singer/songwriter best known for his smash hit “Up Against The Wall (Redneck Mother)”, Ray Wylie Hubbard will romp and stomp at the Cactus Theater. Born in Oklahoma,. he moved to Austin early on and took his place as one of the founders of the cosmic cowboy movement of the '70s. The Cactus proudly offers an opportunity to once again experience the music of an honored legendary Texas singer/songwriter. Be prepared to get your smile on! March 14....Songwriter Showcase: Up Close with Bernie Nelson -
Fans of great storytelling in song have a unique opportunity to experience a "living room" type concert by one of Nashville's great country tunesmiths this Saturday night at the Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe. Bernie Nelson has been writing hits for a "who's who" of Music City for over 30 years. Randy Travis, Trace Adkins, Conway Twitty, Wynonna, Chris Ledoux, John Anderson, Pam Tillis, Kris Kristofferson and dozens more have recorded his tunes. His song "Daddy Never Was the Cadillac Kind" went to #1 on the Billboard charts and earned "million airplay" status. Limited tickets are available for this intimate showcase featuring the stories behind the songs and a chance for music fans and aspiring songwriters alike.
