June 12….Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase: Wendy Colonna - The Buddy Holly Center is gearing up for another summer of music and fun with the annual Summer Showcase Concert Series running now through August 28th. Showcase is free to the public. There will be a cash bar and beverages available for purchase. Please, no outside beverages are allowed. Buddy Holly Center, 19th & Crickets Avenue. Performances are every Thursday evening from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm in the Meadows Courtyard.

June 12 -14….Flatland Film Workshop for Students - For incoming 8th - 12th grade students this workshop will cover pre-production, production, and post-production. Learn from experienced professionals and teachers! You will be guided through the entire process and have a finished film at the end of the workshop. All equipment will be provided. Instructors: Paul Allen Hunton, Rob Peaslee, Taylor Shofner. Cost is $15.00. LHUCA, 511 Avenue K; 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

June 13….Movie Night at Maxey Park -
Grab a blanket, pack up the kids and watch a movie out under the stars! For the third year, Maxey Community Center is hosting their Movie Nights at Maxey Park, and each month a different, classic Disney movie will be featured from June through September! The series kicks off with the 1979 original version of “The Muppet Movie.” Families are encouraged to bring blankets or low-backed lawn chairs to enhance their viewing experience. Musically brilliant, this show will delight and entertain all ages. Bring your family and "consider yourself at home" as you enjoy Oliver! This is a heart-warming classic that you don't want to miss! - This event is a one day shopping extravaganza featuring a unique blend of handmade arts & crafts, vintage finds & inspiration, one of a kind items, antique décor, rusty-chippy-shabby-reloved and refunked JUNK, bling and glam boutiques, sparkly jewels and FABULOUS JUNKTIQUES for your creative soul! June 14….Roundtable Luncheon - The public is invited to attend a luncheon and hear a local speaker. There is a limited menu with drink and dessert for $15 per person. This week's guest is Neil Kurtzman MD, speaking on the topic "Why Medical Care Is So Expensive". Hillcrest Country Club main dining room, 4011 N. Boston Ave; 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

June 14….2nd Annual Shallowater Summer Shindig – Come kick off the summer with the Shallowater fire department. Enjoy water games, firefighter challenge, bounce house with water slide, cotton candy, snow cones and a huge silent auction. Lunch will be served from 12 – 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Shallowater Fire Dept. Shallowater Middle School; 12 – 4 p.m.

June 14....Sir Paul McCartney in Concert -
Perhaps the most prolific songwriter of all time, McCartney will open the 2014 U.S. leg of his "Out There" tour with his first-ever appearance in the hometown of his beloved Buddy Holly. June 15….Sunday Concert in the Park - Come and enjoy an old fashioned Concert In the Park, performed by the Westwinds Brass Band. Traditional brass band music, marches, overtures, outstanding soloists, and our traditional favorite...the kid's march. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an hour of fun music-- maybe even a picnic supper! Concerts are sponsored by the Tech Terrace Neighborhood Association. Admission is FREE and everyone welcome. Wagner Park, 26th St. and Flint Ave; 8 p.m. - 9 p.m.
