May 9…. New Neighbors Club Luncheon: Featuring Music Guest Kenny Maines
- The New Neighbors Club Luncheon and program features acclaimed singer and actor Kenny Maines. He recently starred in the movie “The Arroyo”. The Program will also include the installation of NNC officers for 2014-2015. The New Neighbors Club is a community service organization and you do not need to be new to Lubbock to attend this particular event. Cost for the Luncheon is $14 and reservations are required. May 9….D’Venue Presents Cut Loose to Footloose
– Come join D’Venue for an evening of dinner, dancing and a show! Students and instructors will be performing group routines and solo numbers to the music of Footloose. The showcase will include styles of Jive, East Coast Swing, Nightclub Two Step. Open dancing ranges from Country, Salsa, Bachata, Foxtrot, Rumba, Waltz, and Swing. In this hilarious satire of musical theatre, one story becomes five delightful musicals, each written in the distinctive style of a different master of the form. The basic plot: June is an ingenue who can't pay the rent and is threatened by her evil landlord. Will the handsome leading man come to the rescue? Told in the styles of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Sondheim, Herry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Kander & Ebb. A witty and charming valentine to musical theatre! May 10….The Vineyard Run - The Vineyard Run is totally unique! Where else in Texas can you start and end a 5k at a real vineyard? And once you arrive at the McPherson Winery in Lubbock you will be transported to wine country. Enjoy great Jazz music and free wine tasting afterwards. Walkers are welcome! May 10….Cactus Theater: Winnebago Whoopie, The Musical
- This new, original Cactus creation takes you on a musical tour of Texas towns! The hilarious comedic antics of Jane Prince Jones and Kurt Kiser will have the audience rolling in the aisles. Guests will hear songs from El Paso to Dallas, and from Amarillo to San Antonio, performed by the best country singers in West Texas. Featured performers are Kurt Kiser, Jane Prince Jones, Jeff Bailey, Amber Pennington, Jason Fellers, Terri Caldwell and the Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine. May 10….Night Hike
- Join guides at dusk to explore the Landmark after dark! Gather at the Robert A. Nash Interpretive Center to begin the adventure. Be sure to wear comfortable, sturdy, closed-toed shoes.
