February 7….First Friday Art Trail
- See the regular art venues...plus the exciting monthly additions showcasing art and artists downtown and throughout Lubbock. Catch a trolley or bus at many of the locations or pick up a FFAT map at any of the venues to see the art that can be found throughout the community each month during the event. First Friday Art Trail trolleys run continuously in downtown Lubbock during FFAT hours. Trolleys are free and you will find a "trolleyteer" on each trolley who is a treasure trove of info about FFAT and the arts in Lubbock and will help you navigate with ease. February 7….Cactus Theater: A Night at the Grand Ole Opry - You'll think you are in the Ryman in Nashville as you hear the songs that created our country legends! George Jones, Merle Haggard, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Patsy Cline and newer members Carrie Underwood, Josh Turner and Alison Krauss are just a few out of the 69 current members. February 7 – 8….Friends of the Library Book Lovers Half-Price Sale - Come on down to the Mahon Library basement on Friday or Saturday to get some great bargains in books, art, movies, and music. Everything is one-half of the fall sale price and that puts most adult books at 25 or 50 cents. Children's books are half of that...bargains galore can be yours during this event. Cash or check only. Lubbock Memorial Arboretum Second Saturday Program - The speaker for this program will be certified permaculture designer and local gardening expert, Kyle Tengler, as he talks about "Sustainable Vegetable Gardening." Come learn techniques to help you design and cultivate a holistic home garden. All Lubbock Memorial Arboretum Second Saturday programs are free of charge. Parking is available north of the house in the shared parking lot with Hodges Community Center. Lubbock Memorial Arboretum Interpretive Center (the little red brick house at the Arboretum), 4111 University Ave. Refreshments served at 9:30 a.m.; program runs 10 - 11 a.m.

February 8…."Hydrofracking: What it Means for Lubbock County" - LHUCA is holding an informational forum in conjunction with Mery Godigna Collet's exhibit, "Extra Virgin Petrus Oil". Collet's work is informed by oil drilling practices and she paints with crude oil and other natural elements associated with the drilling process. This is an example of how current economic and ecological practices can start a conversation through the arts. Open to the general public and free admission. February 8….Haven Animal Care Shelter Event – There will be a drawing for five $100.00 gift vouchers to the veterinarian of your choice in celebration of the one year anniversary of the Haven Hope for Animals Fund! You must sign up at the Haven Animal Care Shelter between the hours of 2 p.m. – 5p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2014, or 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2014. You do not have to be present for the drawing to win. The drawing will be held around 3 p.m. on February 8, 2014. No entry fee is required. February 8….17th Annual Wine & Chocolate Wine Fantasia - The Llano Wine & Chocolate Fantasia was created to promote interaction among culinarians, foster alliances for students, give culinarians in the South Plains area the opportunity to gain experience in a competitive setting, and expose the public to an original event which they will not soon forget. Tickets to the event are $50.00 and proceeds go to the Parkinson's Society of West Texas as well as to fund scholarship for local chefs. Entry grants you access to as many chocolate samples as you can taste as well as complimentary wine by the glass. While tickets are available, please call the tasting room at (806)745-2258 to order. February 9….The Roadshow Tour
- Roadshow embarks on its sixth annual tour in January 2014 with a new group of all-star musicians. Leading the night are Skillet, Third Day, Andy Mineo, Jamie Grace and Royal Tailor. This tour follows the very successful 2012 "Roadshow" which was named one of Pollstar's Top 50 Tours for Mid-Year 2012. Also included in the evening will be a diverse group of newer artists including Soulfire Revolution, We As Human, The Neverclaim and Vertical Church Band.
