January 31…. 5th Friday Arts on the Slaton Square - The Art Galleries on the Square will be showcasing talented visual artists from Texas Tech's Graduate, Undergraduate and Alumni programs; as well as local and regional artists. Featuring student/alumni artworks from Texas Tech will be Waters South Art Gallery, Inbetween Art Gallery, V2 Art Gallery, and Jennifer Greer's Art Gallery. Multiplicity Art Gallery will be hosting a Jewelry as Art Exhibit featuring the mixed media jewelry work of Barbra Beller. Other artworks will be available for purchase from members of the Llano Estacado Clay Guild, as well as local and regional artists. Artists include Roger Holmes, Judy Connell Robertson, Cecily Maples, Marsha Davis, Carol Koenig, Tom Hicks, Jerry Thompson, Willa Finley, Susan Sheets, and Barbra Beller. Come to the Slaton Square and find something truly unique and special for your VALENTINE! Other locations on the square which will be open that night include the Slaton Bakery, the Railroad Museum, the Slaton Museum, the Town Square Antique Mall, and the Quilt Shop. January 31….Kids' Friday ART Fun Night - Be My Valentine – This event is for grades 1st through 6th. Artists will paint and create a Valentine pencil holder out of a terracotta pot complete with pencils and toppers, paint a pottery heart handle mug and create their own miniature Valentine cards. January 31….Lubbock Symphony Orchestra Classical Mystery Tour: A Tribute To The Beatles
- Who will ever forget John, Paul, George and Ringo?! Join the LSO and 4 consummate musicians for this one-night-only epic event which features the legendary music of the Beatles with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra. January 31 - February 1 ….C.A.T.S. Playhouse: “Doubt” - In this brilliant and powerful drama, Sister Aloysius, a Bronx school principal, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects the young Father Flynn of improper relations with one of the male students. Winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award. A Parable by John Patrick Shanley, directed by Zachery Kocurek. Content note: Adult situations; parents strongly cautioned. February 1….Return of the Ukulele – For ages 9-12. There’s more to a ukulele than playing Hawaiian music. Come to this workshop to learn the history of the ukulele. Then, with very close attention to detail, students will build a pineapple-shaped ukulele of their own with local luthier Justin Deurmyer. Cost is $50. Call 806.775.3562 to register. February 1…. Children’s Dental Health Fair - Join the South Plains District Dental Society for their annual Children’s Dental Health Fair at the Science Spectrum. This annual health awareness fair is always a huge family hit. Not only will families receive invaluable oral health information and lots of free “toothy” giveaways, but will also have a blast doing it! Best of all, the event and regular Science Spectrum Museum admission is totally *FREE to all children up to age 12. This is a great opportunity for families that may not regularly attend the Science Spectrum to try it out and see all the great family fun and learning that awaits them!

February 1…."Always, Patsy Cline" - Because of illness, the last production of Always, Patsy Cline starring Terri Caldwell and Jane Prince Jones was never presented. So....on February 1st the Cactus Theater will welcome back the final show, with this dynamic duo as they officially retire from their roles as Patsy Cline and Louise Seger. If you have never seen this production - it is a must see! Many of their fans have seen it multiple times and still ask for more! February 2….Big Game Blow Out - Join the Children’s Advocacy Center at the Science Spectrum Omnimax Theater and watch the "big game" on the biggest screen in town! Pre-purchased tickets can be bought for $25 which includes food, drinks & snacks. Adult beverages will be available for purchase. Call (806) 740-0251 for additional details and to purchase tickets. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event. There will be childcare available for children 4-12 on each level of the museum by background checked volunteers.
