August 30….Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase Concert Series: John Sprott (Rock & Roll) - The Buddy Holly Center wraps up a summer of music and fun at the finale of the annual Summer Showcase Concert Series. The Summer Showcase experience is an entertaining environment, where patrons can enjoy original and unique Texas-made music. FREE to the public. There is a cash bar and beverages available for purchase. Outside beverages are not allowed. Buddy Holly Center, Meadows Courtyard, 1801 Crickets Ave. 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

August 31 (Premiere)….Buddy Holly Center Exhibit: The Wayne Hatchel Collection - The Buddy Holly Center will collaborate with the Texas Tech University’s Southwest Collection to feature photographs from the collection of Wayne Hatchel who worked as sound engineer for a variety of musicians, including Joe Ely, for many years. Mr. Hatchel’s collection includes many backstage photographs from his time with the Ely band. The exhibition will be on display in the Fine Arts Gallery. August 31, September 1 (Repeats September 14, 15) …. Saloon Drama Series at the Cactus Theater: "Dooley’s Back at Belle’s" - Set in Belle’s Saloon in Dry Gulch, Texas, in the late 1800’s, Tom Dooley, an outlaw and bank robber, has been released from jail and been through rehabilitation becoming the town preacher. Everyone loves the change he’s been through but the town deputy is not convinced and later, with no witnesses, Dooley confirms the deputy’s suspicions. In fact, the deputy learns Dooley plans to rob and then burn down Belle’s Saloon, leaving her destitute. Dooley’s plan solidifies and Belle’s place is threatened.. that is, until Dooley makes one tiny mistake. Tickets are and can be reserved at 806.762.3233. Hub Performing Arts School Announces Team Auditions

August 30…..Hub Performing Arts School's Advanced Performance Team Auditions - If you are a student in the third through 12th grades and would like to be a part of a NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED team of talented kids, then you should plan to audition on Saturday, August 25th or Thursday, Aug. 30th. Interested kids should prepare a short monologue and short song and email us at hubperformingarts@att.net to request a day and time to audition. The team meets on Saturday mornings and competes in the Junior theatre Festival in Atlanta in January and travels to New York City in the summer. the team will be performing LITTLE MERMAID JR. in the spring!
