May 20 - 21….Frenship High School presents: "The Phantom of the Opera" - This is the first time any high school or college from West Texas will be performing the original Broadway production! Directors Jared Hardy and Carl Brown have the assistance of Lubbock native David Gaschen, who was in the Broadway production of "Phantom." Tickets are available for purchase in the Frenship HS Choir office from 1:30-3:00 pm, Monday through Friday. All tickets are $10.00 and selective seating is available online at www.frenship.us. May 20-21….Christ In The Arts' production of “Epic” - (CITA) will present a spring performance entitled, ‘EPIC’ – The Timeless Tell of Extravagant Love. Join Christ In The Arts for a riveting glimpse into the very heart of God pursuing His heart's desire through the ages from creation to the New Jerusalem. Music of long-time Christian singer and songwriter, Michael Card, scenes from both the visible and invisible realms will be portrayed through a unique blend of music, acting, and dancing. Join the cast of over sixty people of all ages, including guest artists from Ballet Magnificat and Arrows International, for this dramatic portrayal of excerpts from the Bible. CITA performance director Jennifer Elder said, “This is not a typical ballet recital, as some people may think, but rather a carefully choreographed event, complete with special lighting effects that will speak deeply to the heart of each person attending.” Tickets are $10 each, (group discounts available), visit www.ChristInTheArts.org or call 806-632-1464 for ticket information. May 20-21…..“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change” - It's like Seinfeld....set to music! This celebration of the mating game takes on the truths and myths behind the contemporary conundrum known as "the relationship". Follow various couples from waiting to dating through love and marriage and moving on through the agonies and triumphs of in-laws, newborns and even pick-up techniques of the geriatric set. This hilarious musical revue pays tribute to those who have loved and lost, to those who have fallen on their face at the portal of romance, and to those who have dared to ask, "What are you doing Saturday night". May 21….2011 Lubbock Great Strides Walk for Cystic Fibrosis - Cystic fibrosis is a devastating genetic disease that affects about 30,000 children and young adults in the U.S. Great Strides is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's largest and most successful national fund-raising event. Participating in Great Strides is an effective way to add tomorrows every day to the lives of those with cystic fibrosis. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the walk begins at 9:30 a.m.

May 21….Rain Barrel Make-and-Take Workshop - The workshop costs only $50 per barrel for the general public and $30 per barrel for members of the Lubbock Memorial Arboretum. You will find out how to assemble all of the rain barrel components, paint it so that’s it is the “crown jewel” in your yard, and learn everything you need to know about how to install, maintain and use it safely and efficiently. May 21….“Fairy Tale Feast” - Join your favorite Fairy Tale characters- Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Belle, Alice in Wonderland, Tinkerbell, Peter Pan and many more as you picnic in the park. Enjoy a princess bouncer, cupcakes, fairy tale crafts, princess dance lessons, prince sword lessons, Cinderella carriage ride and a concert from all of the characters! This amazing event is a fundraiser for Hub Performing Arts School. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Vintage Township or by calling 795-7344. May 21 (repeats May 28)….The '60s’ and '70s: A Musical Journey – Come and experience a uniquely American journey from the beginnings of early rock 'n' roll all the way up to the mid-60s' arrival of the "British Invasion." Then continue the journey from an explosion of LOVE from Woodstock era up to the funky beats of disco. Tickets are $25 and available by calling (806) 762-3233.
