FRIDAY and SATURDAY

March 25-26….Bernstein's Candide - What is the musical stage work Candide? How should it be classified? Is it an opera? An operetta? A musical comedy? A musical drama? It is none of the above, and it is all of the above. It is the story of a young man on a "quest" to find the truth-or at least a coping mechanism. His instructor, Dr. Pangloss, has gone to great lengths to educate him on the best of all possible worlds. Candide discovers through his travels to foreign and exotic lands, that the best of all possible worlds does not exist-as a physical place. It is more a state of mind. This work is based on the existential musings of the French Philosopher François-Marie Arouet or Voltaire. The genius of Leonard Bernstein has made the show a riotous comedy. Get ready to laugh! Tickets through Select-A-Seat at 770-2000. Allen Theatre, Texas Tech Campus; 7 p.m.

March 25-26

There will be a special guest appearance by 8 year old future superstar Avery Winter as Brenda Lee. Once again Cactus favorites Jane Prince Jones and Kurt Kiser will portray Minnie Pearl and Porter Wagoner. Tickets are $25. For more information or to reserve your tickets call 762-3233. Will Charlotte appear or run off their agent. Will George be sober enough to emote? These questions and many others are answered in this hilarious valentine to Theatre hams everywhere.
