December 23….Santa Land
(Closing Night) - More than 30,000 people visit Santa Land each year to see the festive holiday village with its huge lighted Christmas tree, animated displays, bonfires, traditional holiday scenes, and Santa and Mrs. Claus. For visits with Santa, parents are encouraged to bring their children early in the evening as the line is stopped at approximately 9 p.m. or earlier depending on the crowd. Enjoy live entertainment most evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. Hot chocolate and other refreshments are available for sale at the concession stand. Parents are welcome to bring cameras and video cameras to take photos of their children with Santa at no charge. For those who forget their cameras, keepsake digital photos may be purchased for each. The entrance to Santa Land is from the east Broadway entrance into Mackenize Park just past Ave. A and the fairgrounds; 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.

December 23….Cactus Family Christmas Celebration -
Carry on the tradition and join the Cactus as they commence this holiday season with the 17th Annual Cactus Family Christmas Celebration....featuring your favorite stars of the Cactus Theater and the phenomenal Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine. Come get into the spirit of the season with an enchanting mixture of music ranging from wonderfully nostalgic Christmas favorites to contemporary Christmas hits. Sensational Christmas decorations provided by Holland Gardens will transform the Cactus Theater into the perfect cozy and at-home atmosphere in which to cuddle up and enjoy the joy of Christmas. As an added bonus, Slaton Bakery, the official bakery of the Cactus Theater, will provide delicious Christmas treats and cookies for all. From our family to yours, we would love for you to come and be a part of the Cactus Christmas magic this holiday season. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling (806)762.3233. December 23 (repeats Dec. 29–31)….‘White Christmas’ - A Lubbock Moonlight Musicals indoor production of the musical “White Christmas,” by Irving Berlin, will be staged as a dinner theater presentation featuring Matthew Smith as Bob Wallace, Allison Smith as Betty Haynes and Mariel Morgan as Judy Haynes. Tickets are $60, $50 and $35, and there will be a cash bar. Tickets can be purchased at Select-A-Seat outlets or by calling (806) 770-2000. Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Banquet Hall, 1501 Mac Davis Lane. Dinner at 6:30 p.m., show follows at 7:30 p.m.

December 24-26….Santa’s Land Drive Thru Christmas Park (in Tahoka) – Everyone is invited to to stop by and see the lights and Santa and Mrs. Claus (please bring your camera). The park includes four acres of land, 1/2 mile of driving paths, thousands of lights, 100 plus wooden cut outs, 15 blow-ups, tons of Christmas trees, and 3 decorated antique cars. Visitors are able to stay inside their cars or get out and mingle while enjoying a warm fire and some hot chocolate. Admission is free, donations will be accepted to help keep the lights on. Park is located at South 11th and Ave O (use Google map) just off of Hwy 87; Open at 6:30 p.m. Lights out no earlier than 10 p.m. If Santa is present he departs at 9 p.m.

December 28-30….Kids' New Year’s Camp - During New Years Camp, kids will have fun playing themed indoor and outdoor games. They will be able to create New Years themed arts & crafts and enjoy playing in the newly completed playground. Maxey Center will provide a morning and afternoon snack. We ask that parents please send campers with a cold sack lunch. Cost is $64 for the 4 days of camp. Pre-registration is required. Space is limited. For more information please call 806-767-3796. Maxey Community Center, 4020 30th Street (south side of Maxey Park); 7:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m.

December 28-30….FiberMax Caprock Classic Basketball Tournament – This is the largest high school basketball tournament in Texas featuring 95 boys and girls teams. Games will be hosted in
Monterey, Coronado, Lubbock High, Estacado, Frenship, Lubbock Cooper and Trinity Christian School. Lubbock Christian University will have games after noon. Finals night is the 30th at Lubbock Christian University. Get out of the house and watch some exciting high school basketball.
