Donnie and his sidekicks Jeff Bailey, Jason Fellers, and Mark Paden revisit the Cactus stage to take you on a sleigh ride through memory lane featuring the all time hits of the JDs with a holiday twist. Their usual comedic wit, cool vibe and amazing musical talent will jingle your bells making this "THE" concert you can't miss! We are all blessed to have the group back together again. December 17….December’s Art With Aimee - Sign up for Art with Aimee, a seasonally themed kid’s party / parent’s night out for kids ages 6-12. Kids will enjoy pizza, drinks, and a sweet treat. For December the party theme is Holiday Celebration. Kids will have fun making ginger bread houses and eating reindeer cupcakes. They will also enjoy singing along to holiday karaoke and playing other holiday themed games like “Unwrap the Gift”, and “Name that Holiday Carol”. December 17….Quinn Patrick Ankrum and Anne Kissel in Concert - The young American mezzo-soprano Quinn Patrick regularly receives acclaim for the purity and strength of her lyric voice enhanced by a sizzling coloratura facility and an engaging personality on stage. A native of Texas, Patrick received her training at Trinity University in San Antonio and the University of Colorado at Boulder followed by participation in the Glimmerglass Opera Young American Artists Program and the Baltimore Opera Studio. Praised by the Boston Globe for her "subtlety and insight," pianist Anne Kissel is sought after as a chamber musician and song recitalist. While residing in Boston, Kissel was actively involved in educational outreach performance in Boston's inner city schools and at schools throughout New England with such groups as the Handel and Haydn Society, Boston Lyric Opera, and Opera Boston. December 17 (repeats Dec. 21-23)….Cactus Family Christmas Celebration - Carry on the tradition and join the Cactus as they commence this holiday season with the 17th Annual Cactus Family Christmas Celebration....featuring your favorite stars of the Cactus Theater and the phenomenal Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine. Come get into the spirit of the season with an enchanting mixture of music ranging from wonderfully nostalgic Christmas favorites to contemporary Christmas hits. Sensational Christmas decorations provided by Holland Gardens will transform the Cactus Theater into the perfect cozy and at-home atmosphere in which to cuddle up and enjoy the joy of Christmas. As an added bonus, Slaton Bakery, the official bakery of the Cactus Theater, will provide delicious Christmas treats and cookies for all. December 17-18....."A Place Called Christmas" - In this production written and directed by Whitney Ryan Garrity the Holiday Toy Store closes its doors on Christmas Eve, leaving 5 toys behind. The four older toys befriend the freshly painted puppet, Woody. Woody learns about Christmas and Santa Claus from the others and the toys embark on an adventure to find Christmas, believing it to be a place (the Toy Maker's been saying that Christmas is just around the corner since Thanksgiving). With the help of two quarreling elves and a flighty Good Fairy, the toys discover the true meaning of Christmas. To make reservations please call (806)792-0501. December 17-19….“All Through The House”Christmas is approaching and William Garrett is a very happy man. His business is booming, his family is healthy, and his three closest friends are over for their weekly meeting of the Shakespeare Study Club where Shakespeare takes a back seat to poker and women aren’t allowed. Then the trouble starts! The men are interrupted by William’s frantic daughter, then his concerned wife, his domineering, busybody mother-in-law, and finally, the Reverend Fowler. As William’s good spirits and economic well-being fly out the window, the audience will be thoroughly entertained by guessing who will finally gain the upper hand and reestablish the Christmas spirit. December 17-19.....“Bethlehem”
- This original drama, written by Chip Polk, is Ragtown Gospel Theater's first musical. This new Christmas drama presents the birth of Jesus from Heaven's perspective and promises to be a deeply meaningful and memorable experience. Create a wonderful new tradition this year and attend the premier season of “Bethlehem” and experience Christmas at Ragtown. TIckets are $20 for adults, and $10 for students K-College. December 17–19….."Nuncrackers" – Join Lubbock Community Theatre in the 5th of a series of musical comedies about nuns from the Mt. St. Helens Convent in Hoboken NJ (they are fictional of course). The first show called "Nunsense" introduces them. Their Christmas show, which is "being filmed in the convent basement on local cable access TV) features a lot of singing and dancing, a cooking show and a home shopping net work show. The play is family-friendly featuring 7 kids and it is a lot of fun. During intermission there will be the opportunity to "Stuff the Stocking" for Ronald McDonald House Charities. December 18….Christmas For the Animals Open House - Drive through or walk through the Haven and visit the animals who are waiting to greet you. You are welcome to stop in the Visitors Center to meet staff members and volunteers from 2 p.m.- 5 –p.m. There will be a donation drive thru December 31st, Tuesday-Friday 9 a.m.-11a.m. or 2 p.m.- 5 p.m. and Saturday 10a.m.- 5 p.m. The Haven’s wish list includes leashes and collars, canned and dry dog and cat food, brushes, litter and litter boxes, mops and brooms, laundry detergent and bleach, all purpose cleaner (Fabuloso, Odoban), paper towels, hand sanitizer, blankets/towels, and gift cards for building supplies and dog and cat food. December 18….The AwesoMe SuccEss Network Arts & Crafts Fair - This month's event will have 40 booths. You'll find many handmade items including jewelry, crosses, hats & scarves, children's items, framed photographs, as well as consultants from Mary Kay, Miche Bags and Scentsy. December 18….David Gaschen in Concert – David is a worldwide renown vocalist and performer, who is no stranger to art of entertaining. A graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Music, David received his degree in Vocal performance. After graduation, David moved to Chicago, to begin following his dream of being on Broadway. A veteran of over twenty shows, he landed the leading roles of Frederic in the Pirates of Penznace and Karl Franz in The Student Prince with Light Opera Works in Chicago and then in the summer of 1999, David was asked to be in the cast of The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. He made his Broadway debut as the Phantom in November of 1999 and has now performed the role of Phantom over 1300 times. David's previous performances at the Cactus have left the house on their feet in applause. You won't want to miss this opportunity to share the joy of Christmas with David Gaschen. December 18-19 (repeats Dec. 24-26)….Santa’s Land Drive Thru Christmas Park (in Tahoka)
– Everyone is invited to to stop by and see the lights and Santa and Mrs. Claus (please bring your camera). The park includes four acres of land, 1/2 mile of driving paths, thousands of lights, 100 plus wooden cut outs, 15 blow-ups, tons of Christmas trees, and 3 decorated antique cars. Visitors are able to stay inside their cars or get out and mingle while enjoying a warm fire and some hot chocolate. Admission is free, donations will be accepted to help keep the lights on. December 19-20….A Cactus Kids Christmas -
This is an annual event that has always been a sell-out! They say that the spirit of the holiday season resides within the children and this will never be more evident as you listen to these kids sing your Christmas favorites. These stars of Terri Caldwell Music work all fall to prepare the music for this outstanding concert, as it is their opportunity to perform with the fantastic Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine, just like the Stars of the Cactus. Don't miss this jaw-dropping show, which features Cactus Kids from four to seventeen with special guests as they all perform your favorite inspiring Christmas songs of the holiday season! Don't Miss Santa Land in Mackenzie Park...Nightly Thru December 23rd!


December 8-23….Santa Land
- For the 54th consecutive year, Santa Land will light up the Lubbock night with Christmas trees, children singing, twinkling lights and Santa and Mrs. Claus ready to hear the Christmas dreams of area children. An opening ceremony to welcome the Clauses, light the 60-foot Christmas tree, and officially open Santa Land will be held on Wednesday, December 8 at 6 p.m. Children from Lubbock and surrounding communities are invited to be a part of this special evening. Santa Land is open fourteen consecutive nights, and as always, is free to the public. More than 30,000 people visit Santa Land each year to see the festive holiday village with its huge lighted Christmas tree, animated displays, bonfires, traditional holiday scenes, and Santa and Mrs. Claus. For visits with Santa, parents are encouraged to bring their children early in the evening as the line is stopped on busy nights at approximately 9 p.m. or earlier depending on the crowd. Enjoy live entertainment most evenings from 6:30-8 p.m. Hot chocolate and other refreshments are available for sale at the concession stand. Parents are welcome to bring cameras and video cameras to take photos of their children with Santa at no charge. For those who forget their cameras, keepsake digital photos may be purchased for each. Enter Santa Land from the east Broadway entrance into Mackenize Park just past Ave. A and the fairgrounds; open nightly from 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
