December 29, 30, 31….51st Annual Caprock Basketball Tournament - Largest basketball tournament in Texas-over 92 boys and girls high school basketball from cities such Arlington, Glen Rose, El Paso, Pampa, Wichita Falls , Houston, Denton, Presidio, and Gruver. There will be 164 games in 3 days. It’s a charity tournament and all the profits go to help other nonprofit agencies and to give away amtrykes to people needing physical therapy. Please check out www.caprockambucs.com for information and brackets. Green brackets are for mostly 4A & 5A division teams. Red brackets are mostly 3A, 2A and 1A division teams. December 31….Ransom Canyon New Year’s Eve Party - An exciting night is planned for residents of Ransom Canyon and their guests! Beginning at 8 p.m. the doors will open, snacks and soft drinks will be available and each reserved table will receive a bottle of champagne! Jeff Bailey, and The Southern Conviction Band featuring Jeff McCreight, will begin the dance music at 9 p.m. At midnight, black-eyed peas and cornbread will be served to all, along with a glass of champagne, courtesy of Stone Soup Champion Roland Hasenoehrl. Country, rock and roll, golden oldies, all your favorite dance hits will have your toes tapping until midnight and beyond! Why drive further, when the party will be right here at the Ranch House? Advance purchase tickets (by 12/18) are $30 each, or $250 for a table of 8. After the 18th, tickets will be $40 each, or $320 per table of 8. Jr. Explorers - Ages 4 to 6:
Dec. 28 and 29....Winter Wonderland - Lots of changes happen in winter. You will study earth sciences like weather, discover why there is less daylight, and even talk about the solar system and winter constellations. After that, get ready to explore all things cold. Find out about the coldest places and the coldest substances on earth! Cost: $32 non-members / $30 members; 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Adventurers - Ages 7 to 9:
Dec. 29th....The Case of the Murdered Mayor - Become a detective by gathering clues at the scene of the crime and then analyze the evidence like a forensic scientist to help the investigation uncover the suspects responsible for a murder. Cost: $26 non-members / $24 members; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Dec. 30 and 31....It IS Rocket Science! - Learn everything you ever wanted to know about rockets! Not only will you find out more about the physics and science behind how rockets fly, but you’ll actually get to build your own water-powered, CO2-powered and air-powered rockets...then get ready to build a rocket car and race your classmates in the ultimate racing challenge! Cost: $52 non-members / $48 members; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Voyagers - Ages 10 to 12:

This MIT created program makes it easy for anyone to quickly learn the basics of computer animation. You’ll get to invent your own real-world controllers to manipulate what you’ve created online. Best of all, after you’ve learned the basics you can continue to program at home because it’s a free online program....so you can't beat that! Cost: $78 non-members / $75 members; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
