December 18 (repeats December 23)….Cactus Family Christmas - Carry on the tradition this holiday season with the 16th Annual Cactus Family Christmas celebration...featuring your favorite stars of the Cactus Theater. Of course, there couldn't be a Cactus celebration without the loveable Cactus Cuties, Itty Bittys and the phenomenal Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine. Come get into the spirit of the season with an enchanting mixture of music ranging from wonderfully nostalgic Christmas favorites to contemporary Christmas hits. Sensational Christmas decorations provided by Holland Gardens will transform the Cactus Theater into the perfect cozy and at-home atmosphere in which to cuddle up and enjoy the magic of Christmas. As an added bonus, Slaton Bakery will provide delicious Christmas treats and cookies for all. Come and be a part of the Cactus Christmas magic this season. Tickets: $25.00. December 18-20….“A Christmas Carol” - A musical adaptation for the stage based on the classic holiday tale by Charles Dickens. Book and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick and music by Michel Legrand. December 19….Santa Paws at Hodges Community Center - Santa Paws is coming to town! Bring your furry friend to Hodges and get their picture made with Santa! The first 50 families will receive a holiday treat bag for their furry friend! Cost is $1 per pet. Pictures and treats are provided. For more information, call Alicia Perkins at 767-3706. December 19….Visit From Santa in the Village - The Village Shopping Center will have a special visitor from the North Pole each Saturday before Christmas starting November 28th! Childress Photography will be capturing these special moments. A special activity will be provided for kids....free from West Texas Publishers Association! The Village Shopping Center has partnered with Junior League of Lubbock on the Food2Kids Project. Help fill up stockings (located in each Village Shopping Center store) with books and coloring books, to help over 500 children receive a special gift during Christmas! Partial proceeds benefits Food2Kids Project. Events takes place In the Village Shopping Center next to Cokesbury Book Store, 82nd and Quaker; 10:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

December 19….Pictures with Santa and a Mini - Minis and Friends South Plains, a non-profit organization that provides a unique equine experience to those with special needs will be having a fundraiser during the Christmas season. There will be two opportunities to have pictures taken with Santa Claus and one of the miniature horses. All money raised will go to provide visits to those with special needs and to the care of the miniature horses and donkeys. Cost is $5 for one picture. In order to help the South Plains Food Bank there will be a special offer; (with a donation of at least two canned goods you may receive two pictures for the price of one). December 19….Music and Sounds of West Texas – West Texas Music and vocal artist will share their talent for a fun filled evening of entertainment for the entire family: bluegrass, gospel, Christmas music and of course, country. December 19….Michael Martin Murphey's "Cowboy Christmas" - This "singing cowboy poet" is not only the number one, best-selling singer/ songwriter of American cowboy music, he's one of the world's most respected singer/songwriters in the pop and country fields, as well. As a recording artist, he has had six gold records including "Cowboy Songs" and his hit singles include "Wildfire," "Cowboy Logic," "Carolina in the Pines," "What's Forever For," and "Long Line of Love." This innovative concert called "Cowboy Christmas™" started in 1987 and has become a trademarked touring show and musical concept. December 20….Cactus Kids Christmas - This is an annual event that has always been a sell-out! They say that the spirit of the holiday season resides within the children, this will never be more evident as you listen to these kids sing your Christmas favorites. These stars of Terri Caldwell Music work all fall to prepare the music for this outstanding concert, as it is their opportunity to perform with the fantastic Lubbock Texas Rhythm Machine, just like the stars of the Cactus. Don't miss this jaw-dropping show, which features Cactus Kids from four to seventeen with special guests The Cactus Cuties as they all perform your favorite inspiring Christmas songs of the holiday season. Tickets: $25 $12.50 for Kids 12 years old and under. Cactus Theater,1812 Buddy Holly Avenue; 7:30 p.m.

December 20….8th Annual Caprock Celtic Christmas - This wonderful production features singers, players, dancers, storytellers, and more who gather to perform traditional repertoires of the session, including traditional Irish, Welsh, Breton, and English dance; Gaelic-, Welsh-, and English-language traditional songs; instrumental dance tunes and slow airs, and much more. The much-loved fear an tí ("man of the house") Tom McGovern returns as host. Special guests include Scots piper Tom Campbell, Irish tenor Nat Cooper, bouzouki virtuoso Roger Landes, the Appalachian banjo/fiddle duo of Mason Brown (Boulder CO) and Doug Goodhart (Kansas City MO), and the old-timey country duo of Chipper Thompson & Kim Treiber-Thompson (Taos, NM). Lubbock's trad-Irish band Johnny Faa play tunes and songs from their debut CD; the Tech Set-Dancers provide the eightsome reels and jigs of the Clare Caledonian Set, and the TTU Celtic Ensemble presents English rag-morris dances, Anglo-Appalachian fiddle music, Celto-Balkan crossover tunes, the choral repertoire of the Sacred Harp, and the Welsh mid-Winter hobbyhorse ritual called Mari Lwyd. The Celtic Christmas has become a Lubbock favorite with adults and kids alike and advance purchase is strongly advised. Tickets raise funds for the Vernacular Music Center Scholarship at Texas Tech and are available at all Select-A-Seat locations as well as at the door. MONDAY

December 21….Decorate Cookies for Santa - Kids of all ages come on down and have some fun decorating cookies to save for the big night—Christmas Eve! The jolly old elf, Santa himself will be here to take pictures with you and oversee the festivities! There will be a drawing amongst those attending for the chance to win one of two 5 cookie Christmas bouquets! Cost is only $10 to decorate two cookies and have your picture made with Santa. Party times are one hour each (1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.) and they fill up quickly. Reserve your spot by calling 794-6992. Cookies by Design, 3310-82nd Street.
