December 5, 6, 7….32nd Annual Madrigal DinnerWeshale good Lords and ladies fair! This is your invitation to experience the annual holiday celebration that is the Texas Tech Madrigal Dinner Feast hosted by the Texas Tech University School of Music. Madrigal singing, brought to England from Italy in the 16th century, was initially a form of entertainment at the castles and country homes of the refined nobility. Now, the rich musical heritage and pageantry of this age is once again brought to life by costumed singers, musicians, dancers and entertainers. This year's Madrigal will be like never before, featuring our furry and feathered friends. The Student Union Ballroom will be transformed into a festive, ancient banquet hall with a rotating circular stage in the center where our singers and court entertainers will delight our guests during the royal feast. Lords and Ladies of the Court, dressed in the latest Elizabethan fashion, offer a feast for the eyes as they process in grand style with flowing gowns of the richest velvet and silk. During the feast, members of the court entertain on two stages and quartets of minstrels serenade each table. Christmas carols and madrigals fill the hall through the rich and elegant voices of the Texas Tech Madrigal Singers. The performance concludes with the traditional candle-lit recessional.
