Hub Theatre Group is proud to announce its production of Anne Nelson's "The Guys", a poignant story set in the aftermath of the events of September 11. The NY Post called this play a "generous, sad, touching play about the braveries of grief." A portion of proceeds from the play will benefit the Lubbock Regional Public Safety Memorial. On September 11, a commemorative ceremony for firefighters will be held before the show with Fire Chief Rhea Cooper presiding and a presentation by the Honor Guard and a wine and cheese reception after the show. S
eptember 5 (also repeats Sept. 11, 12)…. “The Last of the Red Hot Lovers” - "The Last of the Red Hot Lovers" by Neil Simon is one of his earlier comedies that displays the hilarity only Simon can master. Many actors have portrayed the lead role of Barney, from the film's Alan Arkin to the touring production's Gary "Radar O'Reilly" Burghoff, but Cactus comic Kurt Kiser is a "hoot" offering nothing but pure 'fun'. Audiences will roar as he tries but fails, not once, but three times, to be a "red hot lover". Jane Prince Jones masterfully directs Kurt in the lead role, welcoming back to the Cactus stage three uniquely different actresses, Anna Ruth Aaron Despain, Jenee Jones and Kathy Davis. This is a classic Neil Simon comedy with no profanity but with some adult humor. Tickets: $25. Cactus Theater,1812 Buddy Holly Avenue; 7:30 p.m.
