This Report Cruises in From the Sunny Port of Skagway, Alaska
Beautiful, mild, sunny days greet Shane & Steph

Here are a few pictures we wanted to share with you from the first few days of our trek to "The Last Frontier."

We hope you enjoy and wish EVERYONE could be here to see the incredible beauty all around us. Everything is perfect....including the weather....which has been sunny for us all day every day vs. the normal overcast, drizzly stuff Alaska is known for most of the year. You might say "we brought the FUN...and they brought the SUN." We hope you enjoy these photos!

"Your Cruise Directors"

BELOW: This "black bear" appeared to our eyes to actually be of the "brown" variety...but the tour guide was adamant that "black" bears can come in brown, cinnamon, blonde and other not-so-ebony shadings. This fully grown bear paid us no attention as we sat on our tour bus and watched him foraging for grub right beside the road.

BELOW: This scene below unfolded before our eyes just yesterday afternoon....about 30 yards from our boat. An unforgettable sight as the humpback whale surfaced as it approached our boat...then turned downward....revealing his V-shaped tail....simply awesome to behold against the setting of the snow-capped mountains in the background!

BELOW: Beautiful, serene Mendenhall Glacier nestled between the mountains just outside the capital "city" of Juneau. They told us the population hovers around 30,000....so we figured this was about like saying Brownfield was the capital of our beloved home state of Texas : )

BELOW: I've only been shooting photos with this new camera for about a week total....and I don't think I'll ever be able to top this image below. This bald eagle was one of several which swooped down around our boat looking for herring fish on one of our tours outside tiny Ketchikan. Note the way the bird appears to be looking right into the camera....what a heartstopping, jawdropping sight to see this and about two dozen other eagles circling about the boat at a distance of only 5 to 10 feet!

Next week's FUN REPORT will come via Seattle, Washington!
