November 20-23….Holiday Happening “Winter Wishes” – This annual event sponsored by Junior League of Lubbock will begin with Ladies' Day on Thursday will feature the return of the style show Wishing for Glitz and Glitter. A new ticket options for Ladies’ Day is a $25 ticket that will get you in for preferred shopping, pastries and coffee provided by Starbucks, and the style show. The $40 ticket will include everything plus a fabulous lunch catered by Stella’s following the style show. There is limited seating for the lunch option, so get your tickets early. On Friday join Ray Bonner, the Outdoor Chef, who will be on hand to teach everyone the tricks of the trade for grilling. “Fire and Ice” also will include a silent auction, benefit drawing, cash bar and dinner. November 21 - 22....A Tribute to Fleetwood Mac - This Rock ’n’ Roll Hall of Fame group rocked the '70s and '80s. November 22….Volunteer Opportunity for Our Troops - Join local churches, businesses and volunteer organizations which are working together right now to send 2,500 Christmas stockings to show our appreciation during the holiday season for the sacrifice our troops are making. The stockings will be shipped to the members of the US Air Force 8th Fighter Wing, stationed at Kunsan Air Base in South Korea. This project, led by Westminster Presbyterian Church and supported by the City of Lubbock, the Volunteer Center and dozens of area businesses needs volunteers and donations to fill and mail these stockings. Here’s what you can do to help:

Volunteer on Nov. 22: Starting at 9 a.m. help is needed at Westminster Presbyterian Church to stuff stockings. Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to help.

Donate: The plan is to fill each stocking with candy; small toys; small, non-liquid toiletries; CDs and cassettes. Unused Christmas cards are also needed; donors can also write an encouraging message if they like.

Sponsor the shipment of one or more boxes of stockings: Five hundred boxes will be shipped at $10.95 per box. Tax-deductible donations can be made to “Westminster Presbyterian Church.” Write “stockings” on the memo line and a receipt will be mailed in January.

Add promotional items which have “Lubbock” written on them: Small items, such as key chains, pens and pencils are requested.

Santa Claus Officially Arrives at South Plains Mall On Saturday!


November 22 ….Santa Claus Officially Arrives at South Plains Mall -
Arriving on a horse drawn carriage, Santa will stop at the east main
entrance of the mall. Santa Claus will then parade to Grand Court where refreshments will be served. Children attending the Grand Arrival will receive a special holiday gift. Santa will then be available daily during mall hours until Christmas Eve. Keepsake photo packages are available, and all children visiting Santa will receive a free holiday gift. Along with Santa, South Plains Mall will have several special events during the holidays, including the following:

Day-After-Thanksgiving November 28th, or Black Friday, will start early with the mall opening at 6 a.m. From 7 a.m. – 8 a.m. in the Food Aisle, guests may register for a chance to win a $500 or $250 shopping spree. The shopping sprees will be given away at 8 a.m. to several lucky early shoppers.

Toys for Tots will host a collection site at the Grand Christmas Tree in Grand Court from November 28th – December 16th.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree will be located near Crossroads Court, at Gymboree, through December 16th. Adopt an angel and help a child in need this holiday season.

Abuelo’s Mexican Food Embassy will help fans kick-off the Texas Tech/Oklahoma game this Saturday with a special Game Day Watch Party. November 28....A Tribute to Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons - The musical "Jersey Boys", featuring the life and music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, has taken America by storm. This ttribute features Cactus favorites, Jeff Bailey, Jason Fellers, Brandon Gwinn, and Billy McClaran with their renditions of The Four Seasons hit music. From the early hits of the 60’s, like "Big Girls Don’t Cry", "Walk Like A Man", and "Rag Doll" to the Valli hits of the 70’s, "Can’t Take My Eyes Off You", "My Eyes Adored You" and "Grease"...you’ll hear two hours of fabulous harmonies and solo performances. December 5….50th Annual Carol of Lights - This event is one of Texas Tech’s biggest and longest standing traditions. This year’s theme will be “50 Years of Shining Bright.” The event starts off with the Texas Tech University Combined Choirs performing selections of classic holiday songs at the Science Quadrangle at 6:30 p.m. When the lighting ceremony commences at 7 p.m., students as well as those who came for the show stand in awe as over 25,000 red, white, and orange lights illuminate the 13 buildings surrounding Memorial Circle. The Memorial Circle and Science Quad on the Texas Tech Campus; 6:30 p.m.

December 5-7, 12-14….Lubbock Community Theatre’s Production of "The Little Princess" - Like the beloved novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, and Shirley Temple film, the play tells the story of a privileged young British girl who, with creative imagination and spirited optimism, faces the hardships which life deals her.
