Local elected officials and candidates have been invited. At this forum, citizens can meet those who are serving in public office as well as those who seek to hold public office. This show features the monster hits that literally transformed American music in the '50s. Rock’n’, bopp’n’ magic that will never be topped. The Cactus stars capture the spirit of Elvis, Little Richard, The Everly Brothers, Fats Domino, The Coasters, Dinah Washington and many others. October 17, 18, 19….Hub Theatre Group’s Production of “Night Mother” - Marsha Norman's Pulitzer-Prize winning play, 'Night Mother will star the amazing and talented duo of Jane Prince Jones and Paula Chanda and will be directed by Bob Chanda. Reserved tickets are $15 adults and $5 for students with an id. Tickets can be purchased by calling 577-7441 or 795-7344. October 18…. Dog Day Howloween - Come and celebrate Maxey’s 4th annual themed costume contest for dogs and their owners (if they choose to dress up as well). There will be 4 separate categories: teen/adult (ages 13+); children’s (ages 6-9); older children (ages 10-12); and, fianally, a costumed dog & owner division. Each category will be judged separately with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Dogs must be on a leash at all times and have current vaccinations. October 18….15th Annual Grape DayThe biggest celebration of the grape and it’s harvest on the Texas high plains. Admission charge of $5 includes a Llano commemorative wine glass and tickets good for one glass of wine. Come out and enjoy Llano gourmet food tasting, ice carving, and live music from Kenny Maines, Lesley Sawyer, Billy McClaran, and Brian Maines. October 18…. Holistic Health and Wellness Fair - Raising awareness and educating the public about complementary medicine and alternative health options for healing. Vendors from different fields of health will be present including chiropractors, massage therapists, life coaches, detox machines, bio-feedback machines, free screenings, turbo-sonic therapy and more. October 18….SOS Singles Event – All singles are invited to gather at Llano Winery for Grape Day. Meet by the front door. There is a $5 admission charge to Grape Days that includes a commemorative wine glass and tickets for wine tasting. Meet at Llano Estacado Winery, 3426 East FM 1585; 12 noon.

October 18….Lubbock's Greyhound Group Meet and Greet - "A Place for Us Greyhounds" will sponsor a Meet and Greet where persons attending will meet retired racing Greyhounds and their owners as well as dogs available for adoption that are in foster care. October 19….St. Joseph's 39th Annual Sausage Festival -
Serving German sausage (one of their own parishioner's family recipes), smoked chicken, warm German potato salad, sauerkraut, bread, pickles, dessert, and drink. They promise you will not leave hungry. There's a take-out line on the south side of the hall. Across the street, to the east, at the school, there will be a quilt show, quilt raffles, cedar chest (filled with goodies) raffle, bingo, games for the kids, live auction (starts around 1:30 or 2 p.m.), large silent auction, and a German country store with homemade canned goods and sweets. German sausage will be sold by-the-pound on Saturday, the day before the festival. There will also be jalapeno sausage for sale on Saturday...and it always sells out so get there early! The sale starts at 8 a.m. Saturday morning where you will be able to buy homemade bread, cinnamon rolls and breakfast burritos. Bring a cooler and they'ill fill it up!. St. Joseph's Hall at 21st and Division Streets, Slaton, Texas; 11 a.m.

October 19....Marc-André Hamelin Concert -
Texas Tech School of Music presents pianist & composer, Marc-Andre Hamlin, considered one of the finest pianists on Earth. Tickets available at Select-A-Seat. TTU Hemmle Recital Hall, 18th Street and Boston Avenue; 7:30 p.m.

October 23-25....Broadway Production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" -
In this Tony Award-winning new musical comedy, six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grow-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser. This tuneful, offbeat and at times heartwarming show offers audience members the opportunity (strictly voluntary) to become part of the action as on-stage spellers. For tickets call (800)- 784-9494. October 25….Disney Princess Cookie Party - Princesses of all ages are invited to dress in your crowns, heels , and gowns or your favorite royal attire and have your picture made with a Disney princess! You will also get to decorate your own crown cookie and are encouraged to enter a drawing for one of our six new Disney Princess cookie bouquets. Cost is $10 for the cookie and the picture. October 31….Spooky Science Carnival - One of Lubbock’s largest annual Halloween events at the Science Spectrum, is back again for another exciting year of family friendly “spooky, not scary” fun. This year’s event features an all new act that promises to have carnival goers “creeped-out”, laughing hysterically, and magically mesmerized all in one show! This event is great for families and kids of all ages looking for a safe Halloween alternative and a fun, educational party all rolled into one. This year’s carnival will once again include; free trick-or-treating, family and kids costume contests, carnival style games with guaranteed prizes, Mad Scientist Show, spooky science lab experiments, a “spooky not scary” haunted house (geared for ages 12 and under), Spooky Snakes and Magic Show, spooky science crafts.
