July 24....Anthony Quinn Movie Series - The Museum of Texas Tech hosts two showings of "Zorba The Greek." It is free and open to the public. For more information call 742-2443; Auditorium at the Museum of Texas Tech, 3301 4th Street, 2 p.m and 6 p.m.

July 24....Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase Concert Series - Austin-based dynamo Patricia Vonne is sure to have the place rockin' when she takes the outdoor stage in the courtyard. FREE admission. Buddy Holly Center, 1801 Crickets Avenue; 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.


July 24....Andy Eppler in Concert at Tornado Alley - Performance outdoors in the space between Tornado Gallery and the Cactus Theater. Seating is limited...but you're welcome to bring lawn chairs! Andy's visual art will also be on display in the Tornado Gallery. For the concert, BYOB policy in effect; $5 cover. 1822 Buddy Holly Ave; 8 p.m.

July 25-26....75th Terry County Rodeo - Events include bull riding, saddle bronc, barrel racing, team roping, bronc riding, steer wrestling, tie down roping, break away roping, and mutton bustin. Dance following nightly, featuring The Martin Country Band. Parade at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Price: $5.00. Buy tickets early from Rodeo Queen Candidates and save $2.00. July 25-26.... Lubbock Moonlight Musicals Presents, "The Pirates of Penzance" - Closing performances for this show! Frederic was meant to be an apprentice of a pilot but his maid mistakes her master's wish for a pirate and after many years he discovers the truth. With a special appearance by the police, the show is a rollicking masterpiece of comic mayhem. Tickets are available at the gate and at all Select-a-Seat outlets, by phone at 800-735-1288 or 806-770-2000 or on the web at www.selectaseatlubbock.com. The amphitheatre is an outdoor venue with paved paths, nighttime lighting and grassy terraces. Ticketholders are welcome to bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs or a picnic blanket A wheelchair ramp, concessions and restrooms are available on-site. July 25-27...."Last Tango in Pango Pango" - The 2008 Harley Sadler Show will be Last Tango in Pango Pango by Eddie Cope. The Garza has historically presented a raucous comedy in this season slot, and Last Tango will prove to be one of the best ever. Last Tango is a light-hearted spoof. A saga of the South Seas, it follows Krissy Kelly, a sweet but determined young woman searching for her father on the tiny island of Pango Pango. A brave cabin boy from a Kansas farm assists Krissy in her search for her father's missing fortune. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children; Garza Theater, Post, Texas, Friday/Saturday 8 p.m.; Sunday 2:30 p.m.

July 26....Charity Garage Sale - The Combest Health & Wellness Center Community Alliance Board will be hosting a charity Garage Sale to benefit the Larry Combest Community Health & Wellness Center. The Wellness Center offers a full range of primary health care for the entire family with sliding scale payments, nurse practitioner/physician services, diabetes education and care programs, senior house calls and primary care for seniors. Copper Rawlings Community Center, 213 40th Street. Event takes place 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

July 26....Card A Soldier - A fun day of making decorated cards to be sent to our men and women serving in the military. Don't worry if you don't think you're "crafty"- if you can cut and glue-you can make a card. There will be volunteers to help out...or just drop by and write a message on cards already made. There will also be a table set up with supplies especially for kids. Supplies and tools are provided. There will be drawings for door prizes throughout the day, with a grand prize drawing at the end of the day (don't have to be present for the grand prize drawing). Store discounts will also be given to card makers for personal purchases made on Saturday. Bring along any addresses you'd like to add to our mailing list. July 26...."Return To Duty - Freedom is Not Free" Cookout - Our men and women, who are being mobilized to Iraq, will be honored with a cookout sponsored and hosted by America Supports You – Texas and the Family Readiness Support Group for the Texas National Guard. We hope you will choose to help honor our American Patriots and their families with your donation of either time or money. Your help is very much needed and appreciated. August 2....Hub City Beach Party - Fundraiser hosted by Foster A Life.
