January 3....Lubbock Fun Club SOS Monthly Dinner - This month's singles dinner will take place at Cattle Baron Restaurant, located at 82nd & Quaker. No reservations necessary...just come join the fun. Bring a friend, too! 7:00 p.m.

January 3....Lubbock Youth Ice Hockey Registration - The 2008 spring session for the Lubbock Youth Ice Hockey will begin on Jan. 3, 2008 and continue registrations throughout the month of January. Youth Ice Hockey is for any boys/girls ages 4-18. USA hockey registration is required. Discounts are available for referrals and for families with more than one child participating in the program. Practices and games played inside the City Bank Coliseum. Tournaments for the spring session have been scheduled with Odessa and Amarillo Texas. January 4....First Friday Art Trail - The monthly (mainly) downtown gallery event returns for the first time in '08. Take the hike or take one of numerous trolleys traveling throughout the Depot District. January 5....Lubbock Youth Ice Hockey vs. Odessa Youth Hockey -

January 5....Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. UTEP Miners - Men's college basketball. Coach Knight is two wins shy of the 900 win milestone. United Spirit Arena; 1 p.m.


SATURDAY and SUNDAY

January 5 - 6....Children's Theater Auditions - For the upcoming plays 'The Ever After,' and 'Big Bad'. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. 'The Ever After,' will be directed by Constance Schmitz-Mousavi, mentored by Peter Contreras II. 'Big Bad,' will be directed by Peter Contreras II. The show will run February 15-16, 22-23, 29, and March 1st. 'Big Bad,' will be our touring children's show this summer, directed by Peter Contreras II. 'The Ever After,' is a show where fairy tale characters go on a talk show to try to resolve their problems. 'Big Bad,' is about the Big Bad Wolf being put on trial by the fairytale characters he has wronged. NO ONE UNDER 7 will be auditioned. Children should be able to read by themselves without help from others. Well behaved children are welcome to audition at C.A.T.S. Playhouse, 2405 34th St. starting at 1:00 p.m.
