The Truth about Cell Phones and the Do Not Call (DNC) Registry - GOOD NEWS!
Despite a re-circulating e-mail, the Federal Trade Commission reiterated that it is NOT necessary to register your cell phone numbers on the Do Not Call (DNC) Registry. Despite the claims made circulating on the Internet, consumers should not be concerned that their cell phone numbers will be released to telemarketers at any time in the near future. The truth is:
• Cell phone numbers are NOT being released to telemarketers, and you will NOT soon be getting telemarketing calls on your cell phone.
• There is NO deadline by which you must register your cell number on the Registry.
• Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers anyway (which most use to call.)
• There is only ONE DNC Registry. There is no separate registry for cell phones.
If you DO want to register a phone number on the Do Not Call (DNC) Registry, just click on their logo above and follow the instructions. That WILL put you on the no call list. Then when telemarketers call, you can let them know.
