November 19 – 22….Holiday Happening 2015 - Hosted by the Junior League of Lubbock, Holiday Happening is one of the most exciting events in the Lubbock community, ushering in the Christmas season each fall. It offers entertainment and shopping for the whole family.

Thursday: Ladies Day: Lights & Laughter
- Gather your girlfriends, sisters, mothers and daughters together to enjoy a day of food, fashion, and shopping. Delight in a delectable lunch, an elegant style show, a silent auction, and stroller-free shopping. Cash bars will be available.

- “Be our guest” for Lubbock Moonlight Musicals’ newest Moonlight Broadway production, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Featuring music from the immortal Disney film, as well as many new songs, Beauty and the Beast tells a “tale as old as time” of young provincial woman, Belle, and her search to find the love she has only glimpsed amongst pages of her beloved books. Similarly searching, though for vastly different reasons, a spell-bound young prince, now only known as the Beast, must learn the true meanings of love before time runs out and the last petal falls. After more than 5,000 performances on Broadway, vast numbers of international productions, and many tours; Lubbock Moonlight Musicals is very proud to locally produce a professional, Moonlight Broadway presentation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast! Following previous Moonlight Broadway productions of Les Misérables in November 2013, CATS in November 2014, and Mary Poppins in May of 2015; Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will enchant audiences of all ages. Once again, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals will coordinate this production to coincide with the Junior League of Lubbock’s annual Holiday Happening at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. November 20.…Tribute to Michael Jackson, Elton John, Prince and Guns ‘N Roses - The Cactus Theater is known for debuting cutting edge upcoming young singers and musicians as they develop their talents right here in Lubbock. Join newcomers Steven Shedd and Corey Godfrey as they pay tribute to Michael Jackson, Elton John, Prince, and Guns N’ Roses! With this show, these two artists are testaments to the Cactus reputation. With Steven's virtuoso skills on the piano and electrifying vocals, he will only complement the exciting and fine-tuned voice of Corey Godfrey. November 20 - 21….Texas Tech University School of Music Fall Opera: “The Turn of the Screw" - An opera in a prologue and two acts by Benjamin Britten. A new governess arrives at Bly Manor outside of London, determined to be successful at educating and raising two, young children. Their parents are dead. They have an apathetic guardian who lives apart from the family. He has instructed the new governess to be responsible for everything, not to worry him about anything, not to write him, and to be silent. What she finds is much more than she had planned. A well-intended situation becomes an absolute nightmare…because of Quint. Note: This production contains adult themes and situations and is not recommended for children under 13. November 21….LCU Annual Turkey Trot
– The Annual Lubbock Christian University Turkey Trot is hosted by the student Recreation Center. Races available are 1 mile Family Fun Run, 5K and 10K. All 10K finishers receive a finisher medal. Awards for top finishers in the 5K and 10K races. All participants under the age of 12 who finish a race will receive an award! Our race is unique and finishes INSIDE our Rec Center, due to this only service pets are allowed. We do allow baby joggers/strollers, however please keep in mind that part of the course is on grass, gravel, sidewalk, concrete, asphalt, and may not be smoothe/bump free. This event is located on the campus of Lubbock Christian University (5601 19th Street). 8 a.m.- 12 p.m.

November 21....The Roundtable presents Delbert McDougal - Our luncheons are held at Hillcrest Country Club 4011 N Boston Ave, Lubbock. North on University past State Living Facility to Newcomb, left for about 4 blocks and you will come to the entrance of the Hillcrest Country Club at Boston and Newcomb. Meeting Format: People arrive about 11 a.m to start registering, pay for lunch and some socializing. Food service starts at 11:15 followed by introductions and announcements at 11:30. The speaker will start about 11:50 and be finished with the program and questions from the audience by 1 p.m. The public is invited. Lunch/attendance is 15.00 and the limited menu includes beverage and dessert. There are no membership fees or dues associated with attending the functions. Any extra monies that you would like to contribute will go towards the speakers lunch and towards our Honors College Scholarship fund at Tech. Our Saturday luncheons are a great way to (1) learn more about current global/US/Texas/Lubbock issues and events, (2) meet other people in area who may become lifetime friends (3) feel more at home in Lubbock. Most wear business or business-casual attire. No RSVP is necessary. November 21….Kappa Delta Sorotity hosts Freezin’ for a Reason Polar Bear Plunge and 5K run - Do you dare to bear the polar plunge? Join Kappa Delta Sorority for a special 5K run and polar plunge into Buffalo Springs Lake! We’ll have music, food truck, hot cocoa, games, photo booth, snowball fight, frozen egg toss, corn hole, raffle drawing and more! Proceeds from the event will benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center of the South Plains in Lubbock. Runners of all ages are welcome. November 21….Batten Family Band - The Batten Family Band is a third generation bluegrass and gospel band based here in Lubbock. They tour throughout New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas, bringing their good old-fashioned family harmony and fun to each and every performance. November 21-22 (Repeats Nov. 27-29; Dec. 3-6, 9-13, 15-23, 26)….The Polar Express - The Polar Express™ returns to the West Texas & Lubbock Railway, recreated to match all the sights and sounds of the beloved story. Picture the excitement of children dressed in pajamas with golden tickets clutched in their hands as they board the train and prepare to embark on their journey to the North Pole. The story begins when the Conductors calls “All aboard” and punches children’s golden tickets. Little faces will peer out the train’s windows as we pull out of the station on our way to the North Pole. Each guests will hear the sounds of the motion picture soundtrack as the story reading begins and the book’s characters come to life. Dancing chefs will serve hot cocoa and cookies to all riders in a merry fashion as the doubting hobo wanders through the train. The train stops where children will behold the magic of the North Pole from their warm train seats. With a jolly “Ho, ho, ho” Santa waves to everyone and climbs aboard where he will greet each child and present them with the iconic silver sleigh bell (only believers can hear its ringing). Christmas carols will be sung as we return back to the station after a memorable ride that sets the tone for the whole holiday season.
