Time for the Farmers Market! Through the end of season in October, the market will be open every Saturday. October 11….Punkin Days Festival - Bring the whole family out to enjoy a wonderful fall Saturday in Floydada. The event starts Saturday morning on the county square. Throughout the day, patrons enjoy booths with all kinds of food, live music and games. Officially coined, "Punkin Days," this annual celebration in Floydada honors one of most unique crops in agriculture, the pumpkin. Every year on the 2nd Saturday of October, the Floydada Chamber of Commerce is host to this special event for Floydada and all the surrounding communities. Costume contests for all ages, pie baking, pumpkin carving and coloring, pumpkin decoration, pumpkin pie relays, Cow Patty Bingo, seed spitting contest, Trunk or Treating, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin rolling, pumpkin guessing and pumpkin weighing are just a few of the activities offered during the extravaganza. October 11….Pumpkin Festival at the Orchard - There will be lots of pre-picked apples, fresh apple pancakes and sausage starting the day at 9 a.m....with lots of pumpkins to choose from! Come and enjoy fresh apple pies and apple turnovers ready to eat, hayrides through the orchard, BBQ brisket and fixins for lunch and fresh veggies from the garden, watermelons, cantaloupe and fresh cider excellent for fermentation. October 11….Maxey's 9th Annual Dog Day Howl-O-Ween - All Ages are welcome. $1/dog or donate a dog toy for local shelters! Dress up your dog and win prizes! Categories for Youth, Teen/Adult, Costumed Owner & Pet. Dog Micro chipping available from the Lubbock Animal Shelter. Must provide rabies certificate or tag. Cost is $10.00 per dog and must provide exact cash only. Maxey Community Center, 4020 30th Street; 10 a.m. registration; 10:30 a.m. judging begins.

October 11….Texas Tech Red Raider Big XII Football - The hometown Red Raiders try to regroup when they line up against the always dangerous West Virginia Mountaineers at Jones AT&T Stadium. The stadium is located at Marsha Sharp Freeway and University Avenue; 11 a.m.

October 11….Oktoberfest – The Historic Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Heart of Lubbock Neighborhood is pleased to offer Oktoberfest meals featuring German sausage, potato salad, green beans, sauerkraut, rolls, and chocolate cake. Carry out is also available. Tickets are available at the door. The cost is $8.75 for adults and $4.50 for children 10 and under. There will also be a quilt raffle, craft sale and sausage for sale by the link. Proceeds benefit the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) which provides services to children and impoverished people all over the world. The church was named an historic landmark by the City of Lubbock in 2010. Redeemer was founded in 1932, and has been at its current location for more than 60 years.
